Default Officer accused of rape claims it was contraband search

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida Department of Corrections officer who is accused of raping an inmate in a utility closet claimed he was conducting a search for her "contraband stash," an arrest report said.

According to the report, the victim, who is an inmate at the Homestead Correctional Institute Women's Facility, told a captain on June 27 that Officer Trevor Hampton, 50, went to her cell about 12:30 a.m. May 18 and placed his fingers inside her vagina and fondled her breasts.

If the officer thinks people will believe that, I have some freshly rinsed vehicles near downtown Houston for sale.

"I just kind of fell inside her while conducting the search"...

"Is that what the kids are calling it these days?"

Every procedure manual I've ever seen for internal searches says that only medical personnel can conduct them. None say to use a utility closet.

Stop and think how rotten a system has to get before someone can say things like that and expect to be believed.

Not to mention that, in my experience, agencies require cross-gender searches when it gets to anything remotely associated with a strip search. And the emergency exception would fail since, if she could be locked in a closet, then a female officer could have been summoned...

Side anecdote...I once had an officer who used a minor use of force to shove someone into a necessities closet to avoid a major use of force at shift change. Creative use of discretion, but he DID de-escalate a situation. Closets have their use, to include temporary securing of an offender. This situation was NOT an appropriate use...

Families and people of the Loved ones should get together with meaning and force imprisonment system to be so brutal, corrupted, and inhuman. Most of the people who are in prisons right now are being damaged big time. I have understood this is the country with more than 2,220,300 adults plus about 4,500,000 probation or parole. We are talking of almost 6,000,000 families that could be involved in making efforts to end this great" business" that just a few powerful and corrupted ones that get lots of profit from the prisoners and families. The longer jail time, the better the business is going to be. Not talking about segregation.
