Hi all, I just found out today (or should I say yesterday) that my husband is being transferred to HDSP. They say he will be transferred in the next 30 days. I am not looking forward to this since it is 10 hours away. Funny, we go from 5 hours away to 10 hours away and have only been married for 3 weeks. What a great way to start a marriage.

Anyway, can someone please tell me how long they are in reception and what is visiting like. I will only be able to come up once a month since I will be flying.

My husband has been in reception for two months and just saw his councilor. He will be moved within 1-2 weeks to mainline. He said that they are starting to really move people through a lot faster then when he first got there. So hopefully it will be shorter then the two months. That is what it sounds like. I have not visited yet...still waiting on approval. Shelly

Glad to have you with us mrskaram. Reception is different for everyone. I have heard of some guys who had to wait 120 days or others who were in for as little as 60 days. My man was in reception at SQ for exactly 2 months when he was transfered to HDSP. I'm not sure how quickly the guys in reception here get out. Don't worry though, it goes by pretty quick. I can't believe that it will be one year February 9th since my man has been incarcerated! 2005 went by in a flash! Now all I need is for 2006 and 2007 to fly by!

Shellyshawn, I sent in my form in mid October and was approved the week after Christmas. I sent my husbands form in at the same time and we just got a denial for him on Saturday. So really I dont think there is any set amount of time. Seems the average is 8 weeks though. Hopefully soon!!

My husband just moved to CCC. How are the visits there? It's been a while... a while to go still...

I appreciate the diverse forums and the support of knowing we are not alone.

hi all...just wanted to say hi again. as for the visiting forms at hdsp, i sent mine in the week of thanksgiving and found out on 1/2/06 that i was approved. you should call the visiting office at x5715 and leave a message to get the status of your form. sgt harndin called me and told me i was approved. apparently my friend already knew i was approved but "forgot"to tell me, so who knows how long he already knew. but i was surprised that they they even told me. also about the visits as i found out. if you are scheduled for 11:30 they have to get you in by 11:00 so you have to check in at 10:30. if you dont you will get attitudes from the ladies. so check in a hour before your visit. also on your clothing....no jeans, denim, gray shirts....as i found out the hard way...i had to go change my clothes...can you believe i had to go put on my night wear...which was some sweatpants and an ugly shirt!!! also dont forget to bring in the license plate number of your car...they want that...lets see what else???

Hi, my name is Elaine Wang. My son in law is at High Desert State Prison C Building. He is sentenced under Three Strikes Laws and got 45 years to life on Nov 09,2004. In fact he is innocent and we are on appeal righ now. I am glad that we have HDSP forum as before I have to search every where to get any update information about this prison. I went with my daughter to visite my son in law on New Year weekend alomst been stucked there. The weather was very bad. It was snow and raining. We have to go to Las Vegas and took the way back to Los Angeles.I learn that there have a High desert Shanga there too.

I used "californiainmatepackage.com" last quarter and they did a great job. My man got everything I ordered and it only took 2 weeks to get to him. This quarter I used "californiaqp.com" because William wanted CDs (the other site doesn't have music yet). I just ordered last week so I'm not sure how good they are. I will let you know how long it takes, etc., when William gets his package.

I Liked "californiainmatepackage.com" because they had name brand shoes, really nice looking ones too. And they had a good selection of food and bath products.

I have used californiainmatepackages twice now and will use them again. It took less than a week for the package to arrive at the prison but it took more than a week after that to get to my son. From what I understand the prison has up to 10 days to give it to the inmate. They do have nice shoes. My son sent me a picture out of a catalog of the ones he wanted and they were nice. Brand names too.

Maybe a new thread should be started for vendor/package discussions? What do you guys think?
