Default Very, very confused newbie

I'm Deb. I live in NY but I'm eating my heart out over my brother's step-son who is currently locked up in Massachusetts. I have so many questions about the prison system, how it works, what's allowed, what to expect -- I can't breathe sometimes just thinking and worrying. I spent the entire day today trying to find answers to my questions but I accomplished nothing. I am hoping you good people on PT can shed some light or perhaps steer me to some answers. Finger crossed!

Thank you -- you're most kind. I'll take another run at all the posts referencing Massachusetts prisons. I'd like to find out if there's a limit on the money an inmate can have in his "book".

Hi there, I too am a "newbie" to this site and the prison system in general. My 17 y.o. son has been incarcerated in ECSD Middleton MA.since March 18th of last year, awaiting trial. I know u can look up the specific jail on-line and get visiting, mailing, and answers to some other ?'s u may have. If u are thinking of visiting be sure to check the dress code, they r really strict where my son is. No low cut tops no rips in clothing no hair up no flip flops...etc...etc. If u want 2 mail him anything get his MSN# to put on the envelope 2 be sure he receives it. There are also other ?'s u may have re: canteen deposits and phone calls its expensive to do but for me its worth keeping minutes on my fone for my son as he is far from my home and I dont have a car so he can call me whenever he needs to! Of course i do run outta mins at x's but i send mail regularly and that is very important....MAIL KEEPS THEM GOING AND HOPEFUL>i send inspirational, cards believe in urself and things like that and my son loves it. Good Luck and God Bless hope to hear from u again!!!! Good luck to ur loved one!!!
