Thumbs up Date for pre-trial! What to expect?

Finally, my fiancee got his pre-trial date. On the 29th, yay! Less than 2 weeks away. He has been in there for 5 and a half months, and is hoping for some kind of deal when he goes. Can you please let me know what goes on during the pre-trial? He has a PD. And a weird question, how do prosecutors act in court? Are they mean from the beginning? When he went for his status conference hearing in February the prosecutor looked at him the whole time and was rolling her eyes, according to the fiancee. Thank you!

that is not right for a lawyer to do that roll thare eyes at you in court lol how rude lol well pre trial is as it sounds befor trial it is time for the lawyers to make mashions like if they want some thing thowen out that the state as or other way a round and to find out if both sides are close to readly for trial it is were the judge is thare to let the lawyers know how he runs the court and how the rial should move think of it like this if you have to lead a big meeting or trianing at work you have to befor the date of the real training go over the things with the others that are teaching with you and make sher all is in order and that you are ready for the real training day thats the same thing with pretrial geting ready for the trial the judge wants the trial to not have be stoped every other secont and to get the time consuming moashions out of the way that what they do at pre trial it is more for the lawyers and judge to get everything on track for the start of trial the states lawyers are ment to act profeshenal like yours is but thare job is to prove you guildty they are not ment to be rude but some are good luck

I'm sure his lawyer is trying to get him the best possible outcome, and a deal may well be offered before pretrial the hearing, but not necessarily. An offer can be made at any time.

Responsible prosecutors don't use ugly facial gestures in court (except the ugly ones), but there is no shortage of prosecutors who will try every dirty trick they can think of to influence the judge or a jury against the defendant. Whichever kind he has, it's up to his lawyer to find a way to stop the inappropriate antics.

Most prosecutors are just prosecutors - they just do their jobs. Most of the eye rolling I've seen has occurred because of what they were hearing, not what they were looking at. You have to remember, most of these things are what are termed, "cattle calls". That's where everybody facing a felony goes to court to check the status of their case. So, a table full of prosecutors is dealing with a table full of defense attorneys, and they're all talking - usually about a ton of cases. Eye rolls generally occur when somebody's picked up new charges, evidence is lost, an expert is going on vacation, a Defense attorney suggests they drop all charges, somebody doesn't show, or any number of reasons. Heck, it could even be that the school's just called and their kid is complaining about a stomach ache and can you get there no.

A pre-trial is a pre-trial conference. It means the case is on the trial schedule and the court is trying to help both sides along to get to the trial. The Bench will want to know what motions to expect, where discovery stands, witness lists, etc.

Plea offers can be made at any time up until the publication of a verdict.

LOL, yourself got me rollin'!!!

Anyways, thanks guys. I am looking forward to the date to see what happens. I might even bring him some court clothes if I can, so he doesn't look all raggedy in front of the judge. What do you think?

generally, if he's not appearing in front of a jury, they won't let him change into court attire as there's supposedly no appearance of bias in him being in jail clothes for anything other than trial.

You can ask his lawyer, but I'll bet it's a, "no"

Once again Yourself is correct - I have never experienced a GA judge allowing a clothing change unless a jury is present. Several years ago a GA icon (gentleman the Matlock series was based on) argued for a change of clothing, citing the orange jumpsuit would be prejudical (implying guilt) and therefore a violation of the defendant's rights......only decision he lost that year
