Default Why so much support for some with execution dates

Something which seems to be a bit of an anomaly but I fail to find what qualifies one person on death row for superstar treatment and another not. Some prisoners, when they are given a date, receive a lot of replies and thousands of page views and others are virtually ignored in comparison. I've tried comparing cases, age, physical attractiveness etc. but there doesn't seem to be a connection. Just looking at the immediate page Cleve Foster, Beunka Adams and John Balentine all have pages of replies and thousands of page views and someone such as Yokamon Hearn, due for execution today, has scarecly a mention. What is the secret?

Some of these men have a lot of pen-pals that they have grown close to and some are followed due to the number of people they have affected by their actions.Others are well know due to the high profile of their case.
I think each person is an individual and I'm sad for the ones they leave behind that love them and pray that at least "we" convicted the right person.
I pray they are in a better place when they cross over to the other side and that those they have harmed find peace and rest,as well as their loved ones.

Some indeed have a very organized and vocal support group; some cases are plain more notorious and hit the news more.
Don't think that when someone does not get much attention in the media or on the boards that they don't have any support. This is not always so; at times they like keeping as low a profile as possible with a capital conviction.

Exactly, as BLoved said: There are many cases, where the inmate, the lawyers and the family agrees that it's best and most helpful to keep a low profile. These inmates may still have a close and strong support group, but it will be an "inner circle".

All three of those men have had multiple dates. We combine them into one thread to make it easier for loved ones to read the messages. Their threads would be the longest.

I think it's safe to say that although some get more attention than others we support and remember everyone. Again these men had multiple dates Cleve Foster is one and he has a host a family and pen pals so that makes a diffrence.

Also, if posts about someone on here do not get viewed much, that does not mean that person does not have any support.
In the case of Yokamon Hearn you mentioned; Amnesty International had petitions up for him in several countries; the French government protested the execution too.

I have wondered about this also.Like Mumia Abu Jamal who got a lot of support from celebrities. And they did commute his sentence.Although others have gotten a lot of support like Troy Davis and he was executed, and Leonard Peltier who still remains in prison in spite of worldwide support.

But it also depends on the inmate. Some inmates bring attention to themselves and others choose to remain reserved to only those close to them.

And, don't forget the role mental illness and IQ play in some of these cases. There won't be huge circles outside lawyers and immediate family when the inmate cannot participate in getting his story out, getting pen pals, or the like.

It's not just about faces and the crime committed, it's also the person carrying the sentence. Some inmates can carry the sentence AND be a presence in the lives of pen pals, other inmates, etc. Other inmates struggle just to carry the sentence from one day to the next, one moment to the next.

Then, there's a certain aspect of lottery to it. Most projects dealing with death row inmates are run on a shoestring budget. Further, it takes a helluva lawyer to advocate day in, day out for people condemned to death. There just aren't that many resources out there, and once case can make the cut, and another won't based on timing and the resources funding the attorneys involved. Geography can also play a role - much less money is spent on DR representations in states where they're not executing people constantly, or where there's a moratorium.

I have my first friend in prison in Death Row.

1.5years later, despite his situation,he is one of my best friend who understand me,and I'm trying to understand him.

My friend survived extreme abuse till 9years old,
no one in his state helped him.I heard(read)his childhood memory, one scene in his cell, and got magazine scrap he sent me instead of cards,
I know "one death row inmate"as a human who care about his friends.

Despite the fact he is not a killer and in DR because of law of parties,If his day will come,
I'm not sure whether I will be broken or somehow keep myself.

I'm not sure he had one good day in his life.

It's A life which a human lead to death row.

I don't think he or other death row inmate wanted rough life which bring him/her premature death.

I ask you mercy.Like me,many people feel heart broken knowing how they lived. At least,I want to let them know some people think about them,as a human.not as a cold body carried in cardboard-made coffin. What they loved, how they lived.
Many of them had very little good luck which ordinary people are getting like they deserve it naturally and don't think about it a lot.
