Can someone be released before their ERD? Or how many months before their ERD do they go see the board?

I can't answer for MI, but in my neck of the woods ERD means ERD: Early Release Date. And is the earliest one is released. If its different in MI, someone please correct me

Nope that is correct. ERD is the earliest release date in MI as well. They cannot get released before then. We do not even have good behavior or gain time in MI. It is day for day. Sorry

They should see the board about 6 months before their ERD (give or take). They won't get out prior to their ERD, either. Not even by a day. If ERD falls on a weekend, they'll be there until that Monday, if they get parole.

No, a prisoner can not be released before his/her ERD. My hubby's ERD is May 18th and he went to the PB December 13th. They have typically tried to have them seen around 6 months prior to the ERD. If hubby get's his parole he will actually have to stay until the 22nd because they only release on certain days. Hope this helps.

This is not necessarily true contrary to what everyone believes. Some inmates ARE released BEFORE their ERD. Don't believe it? Look up Shurone Yates in OTIS. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison on Jan. 9, 2012 and was released on parole six months later - June 6, 2012. This wasn't his first time in prison either, has several felony convictions. Don't know the specifics of his sentence order if it allowed an early release but it happened. Interestingly, Mr. Yates was just arrested again in our county for a new drug charge (his original conviction that sent him to prison). Guess he didn't learn his lesson in 6 months! hmmm...great system we have!

Can it be that he served a year in county lock up & the balance served in prison?

I I was just thinking, maybe a person can get released before his/her ERD if they are deathly ill and can't make it to there ERD. I think this was the case for Dr. Korvorkian (sp).

I think Dr. Korvorkian was released because he was terminally ill.
