Really wish I could find a pro bono appeal attorney in CA. My fiance was convicted of murder & 4 temp murders with all kinda gang enhancements & other charges. He was sentenced to 185 years with no possibility of parole. He was convicted on all circumstancial evidence p. Pretty much he was from a gang. His uncle had been shot.3 weeks before so the DA prosecuted him. The man who supposedly did the murder was a masked man. && there was no weapon found. No evidence at all we need a new trial

You cannot do it for him, even with a power of attorney. He can file a motion with the Judge requesting a contested hearing on the matter, and for him to appear by telephone. Then, the Judge can hear testimony from the wife and make the final orders. If the Judge will not hold a hearing until he is out, then there is not much that can be done.

Looking for help with 2255. This is a case where there was no actual crime comiited. It was a fake stash house and fake everything. Most of the information came from a 9 minute conversation while the 3 defendents and the CI smoked 2 Blounts and the DEA agent was also in the van. He at first denied that people were smoking there-but got caught with the lie on the stand as the recording clearly has the CI saying "fire it up" and you can hear the people smoking. This was clearly a case of entrapement as the CI was asked to set up certain people. We did not go for the entrapment issue as 2 of the other defendents had a prior criminal history and they all went to trial together. This was a mistake as we should have had them tried separately. Please pm me. My son only has 3 months left to filre this. It was in the 7th District. TY

Does anybody know what can be done in the State of Florida as far as possibably an appeal or sentence modification after he took a plea. His plea he was pretty much bullied into, but he wasn't thinking about what was best for him at the time.
Also any Florida addresses that have websites or emails?

This might be of interest to anyone in Minnesota:

Indian Legal Assistance Program
107 W. First Street
Duluth, MN 55802

http://www.ilap-duluth.com/

Despite the name, this group provides legal assistance to all low-income people, I believe at no charge. Based on the experience of a friend, I can say they are thorough and very competent.

Their home page mentions that they are "one of five non-profits providing trial services in Minnesota". No idea who the other four are, sorry to say.

My guy is in TDC for a drug possession conviction that he admitted to before being arrested or read his rights and the confession was used against him in court and he received 40 years instead of the 25 the prosecutor was asking for. His appeals are exhausted and habeas corpus was denied WITH prejudice. He's trying to file a cert with supreme court or 5th circuit, not sure which. Last week he was served a major case, a felony-1 for kidnapping for a comment he jokingly made to me in a letter. I really need some information on how I can help him from outside or any ideas of what he can do inside. Thank you so much.

I'm trying to find an injury lawyer for my husband to help him file a case for an incident that happened about a yr ago while working. He believes he has two yrs to file it. There is no one on the inside that can handle it for him. Are there any pro bono attorneys or ones that will accept payment after settlement?

My heart goes out to you and your family. Im dealing with a similar situation. My fiance was convicted of premediated attempted murder and was sentenced with (2) 40 years to life terms. He is only 23. A lot of gang enhancements and such. This case was all based on eye witness testimony. His Public Defender didn't even start working on collecting information for trial until a week before opening arguments. I know for a fact he didn't talk to anyone I suggested he speak with cause these people all saw the same thing I did. Its a tragic situation and I pray for people going through similar incidences. Stay strong and if I find any information, i'll pass it along your way.

Are you aware of any others in Wisconsin? The agency that you have listed does not represent in criminal matters.

For the umpteenth time, no attorney will handle a postconviction criminal case pro bono, UNLESS actual innocence can be established through DNA evidence. And even in those types of cases, pro bono options are few; The Innocence Project or court appointed private counsel are the best avenues to pursue.

Something to think about: one goes to work each day in exchange for a paycheck, legal professionals included.
