Nothing about a show that is cut and edited according to the wishes of the powers that be can be considered education to the public or the families of those incarcerated. Do you really think they are going to show the officers that pick fights with inmates? Do you really think they will show the property sgt. that gives an inmates' family photos to another inmate like it's all fun? Do you really think they will show that female officer that lies on inmates claiming they are eyeballing her or "gunning" her? Do you really think they will show how the officers set up some of the fights that happen on the inside?

That's why I never understand why people don't truly see it for what it is. Folks carrying on about how scared out of their minds they are after watching it. It is television and there are producers and editors for a reason...if there is nothing "interesting" to watch then no one watches. If no one watches there is no show. Unless they have someone go in as an inmate undercover with the ability to film and catch the officers behaving the way they cover up daily...I don't bother because the rest of it is NOT my loved one's reality. Got a letter from Hubby today. The show is filming now. The prison put on a massive shakedown, too. Made all the inmates strip to their boxers. Stripped their cells completely. Even x-rayed mattresses. Hubby said this was never done before. So I'm sure it was for the TV show. Cameras came around trying to film the guys in their boxer shorts. Female TV show employees seemed to get a kick out of watching the inmates get wanded. Guards were making them look the other way. Isn't it nice to know how our men are being humiliated?

Seriously, if my husband were being filmed without his consent in his boxers for use on television....there would be attorneys involved. There ARE limits to the authority that DOC has about what they can do with these guys.

Hubby wasn't filmed. He told the camera crew to stay away from him. I don't have cable TV, so I'm going to watch the episode online when it's available. If I see Hubby, you can bet a lawsuit will be filed.

Well, what do you know....An MSNBC crew showed up at my husband's camp (Walton) and was filming today...they filmed in the compound and in his dorm that he knows of. Not sure if they went anywhere else. He wasn't sure if it was Lockup or another show. Word was that they were focusing on the female employees as a theme for whatever it was they were filming for.

Hi Nan- yes! My husband just told me the same thing (about them being there today). Not sure if they interviewed anyone. He said he saw the cameramen shooting footage of the compound.

I just saw on MSNBC that the tapings at Santa Rosa will begin to air in 2 weeks. I believe the new Lockup shows always air on Saturday nights so that would be 2 weeks from March 24, if so.

Seems it will air April 7th. It's a shame a lot of people think this show is really what happens.

I thought Scott pulled the plug on this when Buss resigned because Scott said that Buss did not have the authority to enter into a contract with MSNBC. Well, I am glad to see that they will be able to air the footage! Thanks for letting us know! I will be watching!

He did, but then they reached an agreement with MSNBC (I'm sure the amount of money the state rec'd had a lot to do with it) and resumed taping sometime last year.

Just saw an ad for the Santa Rosa episodes...they are advertising it as "the last stop for Florida's most violent inmates". UGH.

I wanted to watch the commercial for it so watched it on msnbc.com. Of course since I am new to this all I about had a heart attack. Husband is at CFRC-East right now waiting to go to permanent camp. I know these things are blown way up to make it seem worse but of course seeing that when not knowing much does not help.

Probably was not good for me to watch that lol. Luckily reading through this forum keeps me in a positive mindset.

Part of the reason that I'm interested to see an episode taped at a Florida facility is because having the frame of reference about how life really is at facilities here, I'll be able to judge better how accurate versus over dramatized the editing of their other episodes is.
