Thanks. He called me this morning (before 7am) and sounded so down. I was really worried about him. Said he hasn't slept and hasn't gone outside at all for fear that something might happen to him. He doesn't want any trouble. I called his counselor and told her my concerns. She was going to call him out and see what was going on. I am worried about his mental health, really. He's NEVER sounded this down. He just wants to do his time and come home. He said he doesn't need any trouble and doesn't want to catch a ticket but will if he has to defend himself. I am just at my wits end with all of this. I can't even imagine what he's really going through. I know he's not telling me all of it. Despite his charges, he's really not a violent kid and doesn't fight, but will if he's attacked. I heard the guy that's at the head of all this is a gang banger...although my son can't really be sure who is doing what. He's just clueless and doesn't understand why they singled him out. He gets along with everyone (at least from his end he does...they don't necessarily get along with him, or anyone else). He hopes they transfer him out of the facility altogether. He's put in for a transfer and I think they'll put him in protective custody (he said he wouldn't mind that, either...so he must be scared). Just sad...I'll never doubt you guys again...no matter what he tells me!

Sorry to hear that I have heard and seen the same, idiots everywhere in there. My hopes are with you and him that he rides out soon. My man stays to himself as well and maybe protects me from knowing some things. He tells me some, but I'm sure theres more. Depending on the age of your son and his charge, my BF would say to "hang" with the old-timers as they are more likely to mind their business equaling less trouble for your boy. I hope things turn for him. Good luck to you

I guess there aren't any old timers in his unit...he was hanging with them at MTU. He opted for no protective custody since they wanted him to name names and he couldn't...he has no idea who is really making the threats. I talked to him today and he says things have died down a bit. He still sounds a bit down, though. Hopefully, he'll come home soon and we can all just move on with our lives! His charges make him look like Billy BadAss but he really isn't. Nothing to do with a CSC or anything either...just stupid crap he did without thinking of the consequences.

Went to see my son today. Had a really nice visit. The COs are way nice there! Very personable and friendly and helpful. They don't seem to judge or look at you funny because you have a kid in prison. Visiting room was a bit warmer than it was the last time I was there and I overdressed (either that or the hot flashes were getting to me at the most inopportune time). Since he hasn't backed down and given in to the demands of the extortionists, things seem to have cooled down a bit for him. He's a lot less stressed (although he still doesn't go outside if he can help it since the yard is the place where the trouble happens). I feel bad that he has to be subjected to that but prison is prison. He says he's not going back...period. I sure hope he's learned his lesson and chooses to do the right thing when he gets home.

Just thought I'd give an update.
