Default OMG do any vans still go to SCI Graterford? Please help, thanks.

Does anyone know why all these transportation vans aren't going Graterford?!?

The time I finally get word that I can finally visit (11/30), all these companies are saying they no longer go there. I don't live in the state and this is just so frustrating. Does anyone know an actual company that still goes to Graterford? There is one that said they don't go on Monday but will go if I pay one hundred dollars? That's insane. Please send me information asap. My bus arrives at JFK and N. 30th Street in Philadelphia at 9:15am on the 30th and I'm trying to get to the prison and stay until visits are over which is 3pm. Any help will truly be appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.

The reason bus services don't go from Philadelphia to SCIs Chester and GFRD is because they are so close. They are served by mass transit (SEPTA). www.septa.org.

From 30th Street Station, you can use SEPTA, but only on Saturdays. You board the Market-Frankford Line (Blue Line) outbound to 69th Street Transportation Center. From there, you board the Route 100 (NHSL) all the way to the Norristown Transportation Center, and then the Route 91 bus to GFRD. (Reverse the trip for your return.)

The first 91 leaves Norristown at 0830 to arrive at GFRD by 0900. That means you must be on the NHSL 100 by 0800 in 69th street, so you have to catch a Blue Line at 30th St. no later than 0715 AM. I think the total one-way fare would be $6.00, and you pay this in pieces.

the only other option I know of is to get to Norristown Transportation Center via the first two steps and then get a cab to GFRD, which you could do on any day of the week.

Thanks so much. Ok, if I get the earliest bus from NY to Philadelphia tomorrow and reach there at like 7am and get the bus to Norristown Transportation Center, where can I catch that? Then, a cab to Graterford...is there an estimated time you can give me that I would reach the prison?

I suspect this information is late, but the connection from 30th Street Station to the Norristown Transportation Center is two steps:
1. The Market-Frankford Line (train) runs about every 8 minutes during the day. You take this to the 69th Street transportation center. Then,
2. The Norristown high Speed Line (trolley) runs very frequently during rush hours and about every 20 minutes off-peak. You take this to the Norristown Transportation Center.

A cab ride from Norristown to GFRD should be about 30 minutes.

Default Transportation to FCI Hazelton

Do any of the places in Philadelphia have transportation to Hazelton FCI?

I would think the best way to find out would be to call each one as the telephone numbers are listed.

Also, you may want to take a visit to the FEDERAL forums. They may have more persons that can give you more direct information since that facility is a federal one and not a penn state facility.

The Prison Society does not go to federal institutions. Our contract with the DOC restricts us to state facilities.

All I know about these people is from reading a news article.

They're called "Bridging the Gap" and work out of Philadelphia.

Here's the article: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...ervice-prisons
