Just so you know: In their orientation booklet they were told that no lipstick or perfume scented paper/cards,etc. could be sent in the mail.

Has anybody received mail from any LO's this week? My husband said that he put a letter in the mail for me on sunday night, and then another on tuesday, and I still haven't received them. Has anybody heard if anything is going on with the mail room?

Has anyone noticed that mail is a little slow being sent out to us? It's like they try to drop it on Thursdays or Fridays, at least that's what I've noticed. My man said mail is running a little funny on his end as well. I number my letters and he said its crazy how out of order he gets them. Just curious if anyone has noticed what I have.

I have never tried through the mail but I ordered a package of them when I sent him his Quarterly package. Does anyone know if you are allowed to send used books from Amazon?

I would like the answer to this one as well. I tried sending my son the 200 sheets and 20 envelope plus the two books of stamps that was allowed in Solano, which was returned to me. Something about 1st class not acceptable for that particular package? Please advise. Thanks.

The two hundred sheets is too much, try 100. Also the envelopes shouldn't be stamped if you're sending Books of stamps. I've never had a writing package returned. I usually send 100 sheets, two books of stamps and twenty envelopes.

The mail room falls behind sometimes. I number my letters and he gets them all out of order so they must have some sort of system. Try sending a few post cards, those tend to get through to the guys faster.

Red face Anyone know whats going on in Valley State Prison? No mail in 8 weeks

Hello Everyone, does anyone know whats going on in Valley State Prison? I normally receive mail twice a month from my babe, but haven't heard from him in almost 8 weeks, being worried is an understatement. I'm from South Africa and we haven't set up phone communication as yet. Any info will be very much appreciated. Oh, I'm new to the site, thanks to all.

Libby , I just talked to my son today. As far as I know everything is fine there. My son mentioned there was a flu bug going a round a few weeks ago and they weren't letting anyone transfer out of VSP right now because of it but when I visited two weeks ago there was no one on lock down. Not sure why you wouldn't receive letters even if they are a little slower in the mail room over the holidays.

I live overseas as well and the mail has been very slow.Unfortunlately in the holiday season mail is going to be painfully slow. However 8 weeks is a long time. Could he be in the SHU? or may be he is ill or has no funds for the international postage?
I am sure you will hear from him soon.

Thanks for shedding some light, makes me feel a little better but i'm still so worried,I know he's not a troublemaker, i'm just praying that he's alright. Being in love with a inmate is hard, especially when you're thousands of miles apart, but i don't want it any other way because i love that man. Hang in there ladies.
