Military Prison Talk & UCMJThis forum is dedicated to those who have a loved one in a military prison, or dealing with the military legal system (UCMJ).
B/f at NAVCONBRIG Miramar - Joint Regional Correctional Facility Southwest
This is all new to me. My boyfriend is in prison. It’s been three weeks, and I haven’t heard anything from him. No letters no phone call. However his parents got a quick call to say he made it safe in Cali because that’s where he was transferred to. And another short call to give a address to write. Is this normal that I have not heard anything from him? Like letters or phone calls. Does it take a while? .-. Also is there anyone I can call to ask anything I would like to know. Lol if someone could tell me the basics I would appreciate it 😭
Check out the Cali forums! I really don't know the rules there so answering you would be dumb. But is he Federal or State that makes a huge difference in the rules.

Hey there, its true that communication takes a good while to get used to with a loved one in prison.
Letters are usually a good place to rely on but its slow. Phone calls may not be allowed yet depending on if he's newly arrived (what is called reception)
In the past they couldnt make phone calls while in that stage but I think that may have changed recently. Once sent to their *home prison* (mainlined) phone calls are allowed.
Maybe his parents can give you his address so you can write.

He’s in the service lockup. .-. At The prison in San Diego
Okay that makes sense because he just got there three weeks ago. And they gave me the address I’ve been writing him just have not gotten anything back.
there is a possibility with it being the military that they are only allowing him to call the people on his DEERS and page 2. so with you writing him he may be able to write back. the military handles things a bit differently than civilian courts and jails from my understanding. my ex husband is a chief and is active duty navy so I can ask to get full clarification on this, he has pretty good knowledge on this stuff.

michirawr198927, Would that facility be NAVCONBRIG Miramar (aka Joint Regional Correctional Facility Southwest)? If so, here is the link to their webpage:
Thanks! And yeah he is. And I’ve checked out the site I just don’t know when I will receive a call or letter from him. It’s frustrating ._. The waiting.

no problem at all hun. my ex husband just called me and was like if hes in the brig more than likely its all very limited on communication.. and even more so depending on what hes there for. he said its way more strict than a civilian jail because you were upheld to higher standards as a member of the military and they have their own rules there. and with you not being his wife and listen on his page 2 and DEERS information the calls may very well only be allowed to his parents since they would be listed as his contacts there. im sorry hun I wish I could give you more information but as he said it really all depends on what they allow him to do there.

Ok I will just continue to write and hopefully I hear from him soon ._. Thank you for replying back to me with the information. I really appreciate it.
Well his dad informed me that he called them and said he was doing ok so I asked about rather or not he knew about if he was able to write or not or what’s going on with that. And he told me they took the pre stamped envelopes from him he can’t use them and will have to buy stuff there. .-.
