Default Puppy died last night

My little pupper died last night during an ear clipping procedure at the vet. It happens to maybe 1 in 1,000 dogs under anesthesia and mine was the unfortunate 1. I am devastated. He was only 10 weeks old. I was supposed to fly to TX to pick him up and bring him home next week after the stitches came out.

I haven't slept, haven't eaten and I feel like a moron for crying over a dog I never met in-person. I just got so attached to him through pics and conversations with the breeder and videos of him running around. Now knowing he's gone I feel empty.

I'm working with the breeder to get another dog, but I'm almost numb to the point where I can't make a decision. Even looking at his pics makes me cry. Ugh...such a horrible feeling.

You were emotionally attached, it's reasonable to feel upset.

Lots of pups at the shelters, too! Maybe go give one a snuggle and see if it eases the heartache. It's a win for you both.

I've never bought a puppy (or adult dog, for that matter), but losing any animal is hard, very hard.

I agree that there are hundreds of dogs in shelters that could bring insane, wriggly joy to you. Most of mine have been rescues or wanderers who lost the path home, so they made new homes with me. There's no less joy in them! I've taken in adult dogs, crippled dogs, deaf dogs, puppies, kittens; if it needed a home, it found it with me. You will never be sorry to give a new home to a stray, I promise you.
You'll know you've created God in your own image when He hates all the people you do.
