Default how do you speed things up in jail??

my hubby has been in jail for 19 days now and has a public defender who hasnt came to see him yet, he hasnt been to court yet and there isnt even a court date set for him yet...... im bein told he could sit there for months before he goes to court....... is there any way at all to speed this up so he can get oiut already?

There probably isnt a reason for the PD to go out and see him if there isnt a court date set. Without discovery and other information there wouldnt be much of a point. The PDs will, generally, file an entry of appearance and a bond motion as a matter of course upon receipt of the case. It will then be up to the court to schedule a bond hearing.

There are legal motions that can be filed to "speed" a case along - but if he is represented by counsel he cant file anything on his own behalf. Any motions he files will be moot and ignored. He should give the PD a call and see what the court's procedure is about scheduling bond motions.

Time is a defendant's friend in most cases. Emotions cool, people move away, memories fade, and evidence goes missing...
