Default West Carroll Detention Center Visiting Information

These were taken directly from the West Carroll Detention Center Visitor Approval Form.


1) West Carroll Detention Center recognizes the importance of visits in the maintenance of an inmate's family tie. Visiting with family members is a vital aspect in the rehabilitation of an inmate. West Carroll Detention Center also recognizes that maintaining relationships with extended family members and friends is also important. Thus family and friends are encouraged to visit but the visiting process cannot overtax the detention centers ability to process visitors and provide adequate control and supervision for visiting.

2) Regular visiting days are Saturday and Sunday. You may visit either Saturday or Sunday, but not both days. Visiting hours are between 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm. The gates will open at 11:30 am and locked at 12:30 pm. No visitor will be processed after 12:30 pm. No exceptions. Once you have entered the visiting area you will not be allowed to leave until after your visit.

3) Visitors must be on the inmates approved visiting list or have approval for a special visit approved in advance by the Warden or his designer. All regular and special visits must be requested by the inmate. The classification office will advise the inmate of the approval or denial of the visitor. The inmate is responsible for notification of family and friends of final approval.
Note: Only Mother, Father, Wife, Son and Daughter will be allowed to immediately visit a newly arrived inmate for the first two weeks until visiting forms are approved. Wife must have a valid copy of marriage certificate.
4) Children 12 years or younger need not be on the visitors list if they accompanied by an approved parent of guardian. Person in the category may be requested to provide birth certificate if there is any question regarding age. All visitors thirteen and over must have picture identification in order to visit. This can be obtained at the Louisiana Driver's License office if the person does not have an operator's license. Only six visitors will be allowed to visit at any one time including small children.

5) West Carroll Detention Center dress code is as follows:
Female visitors must wear bras and cannot wear halter tops.

Short tank tops, see through clothing, mini skirts, mini dresses or any other form of enticing / seductive garments will not be allowed.

All skirts must be below the knee.

Short or culottes will not be allowed.

All visitors must wear shoes. Slippers, thongs and shower shoes will not be allowed.
Failure to comply with the above dress code will result in denial of visiting privileges.

6) Cash money may be deposited in the inmates account. Cigarettes, food, etc can be purchased for the inmate in the visiting room. Inmates are not allowed to have cash and are not allowed to stand in line at visiting room concession. You may not bring an inmate packages while visiting.

7) Visitors must follow all West Carroll Detention Center rules and regulations. rules are posted in the visiting room and all visitors are encouraged to become familiar with the rules. Failure to comply will result in suspension of visiting privileges. All visitors at West Carroll Detention Center may be referred to the West Carroll Parish Sheriff's Office for prosecution in District Court if contraband is found on their person. Contraband includes but is not limited to any substance or device defined in the uniform controlled dangerous substance law, any weapons or ammunition, explosives or combustibles, any plans for escape for the institution and intoxicating beverages according to LA RS 14:1402
