Default Pelican Bay Hotel/Motel Recommendations

Hello. Trying to visit Pelican Bay in August but having a heck of a time finding lodging. The Bed & Breakfast on Google have not returned calls. Out of business? A fishing lodge has an available room but it's over 20 miles East from Crescent City. Already driving from Oakland so would love something closer. Suggestions? Thank you in advance.

If you check out the sticky note in the Pelican Bay State Prison Guide, you scroll down you will find a listing of motels. Enjoy your visit!

I know this is way after MRO Oakland was going to visit but for future reference the Hampton Inn in Crescent is REALLY nice. Right on the ocean overlooking the light house. It was higher priced than some of the other motels but no where near as expensive as motels in the Bay area. The town is about 10 minutes from the prison so its real easy to go back and forth. We drove out there the afternoon before our visit so we would know where we were going in the morning.

Also camped in the summer along the Smith river at a nice little county campground that was only 5 or 10 minutes away.

Arrow Lodging information from a local

Hello Everyone,

I live in crescent city and I wanted to give everyone who is traveling into our area some advise from a local. If you're looking for a great place to eat other than fast food.

The Fishermans Restaurant right next to the harbor has excellent food. Amazing clam chowder. They do more than just fish/chips, so try it!!!

The Bayview Inn [(707)465-2050] has clean rooms with comparable rates to most other hotels in town. They have jaccuzi rooms for $108.90 out the door + refundable $50.00 deposit. No continental breakfast, but they have a restaurant across the parking lot that is pretty good.

As you are traveling into our area, I want to point out that at this time of year there will be icy/wet road conditions, so please drive safely. Also watch for elk and deer for the last 50 miles of your dive here.

I hope this helps somebody on their journey to see their loved ones..Good luck

I stayed at the Best Value Inn when I went years ago.It is def nothing fancy but the employees were very nice and they gave discounts to prison visitors (At that time,it has been about 5 years since I last went)

The Best Value Inn is $49.50 a night, continental breakfast and if you go often (I go every weekend) your 10th stay is free if you ask for a stamp card and have it stamped evry time you go..that rate is for one bed, it may be more for two beds

Americas Best Value Inn across from the fairgrounds, relatively inexpensive, close to the prison, breakfast included....ask for your prison visitor card, after you stay 9 nights the 10th is free
