Angola is not a bad place, despite most of the stuff that has went on the past..Warden Cain has straightened things out a lot. It is not the best place, but it has improved a lot over the years. They have a lot of programs for the guys...school and gym. Main Prison is the best camp to be at..Camp J the worst...

Guy a little wake up call for Angola, Becarful of the rumors you hear about the prison. My husband was on death row there and said it was a pretty ruff prison. Im not sure if any of you have loved one on D.R. but its pretty scary as to what husband has told me. He is now at parish jail waiting new trial and hopfully he will never be going back. Just keep in touch with you loved one and make sure if you do have any probl. you contact the warden personally the guards do not much care over there. lots of love going out to louisiana loved ones.

my son is also at Angola, Main prison Magnolia4/east yard..my son reasures me that the prison is not really that bad, he says the prisoner actually run the prison, he said that you have to let others know what kind of person you are, and be straight up, he has made a lot of friends there. the visiting shed is ok..he tells me he is in the coolest place out there..he has been there for about a year, we are currently in the louisiana supreme court appeals , hope to get more relief there ..what part of Angola ia your loveone at ?

FIVEFOOT WOMAN...It is the inmates responsibility to both add someone his visitation list or request a special visit for someone not currently on his list. Visits are Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The last bus of the day departs at 1:30 p.m. If you arrive after 1:30 p.m. you will not be permitted to visit. Tell your friend of your interest and I'm sure that he will handle his business from that end.

Default Visiting/Sending $ Info

VISITING: Any child 10 and older must have a picture i.d. If it is school issued and the birthdate is not listed it must be accompanied by the child's birth certificate. Also, on the rare occasion when there are five Sundays in the month, there is no visiting on that Saturday or Sunday. Upon being approved to visit, they should send you a rules & regulations manual on the dress code (it is very strict so always have extra clothes and shoes in the car, especially if you have to travel a great distance).

SENDING MONEY: Money can be sent Western Union and since I've never done it that way, you would have to call the prison (225.655.4411). To send money via money order...the money order must be made payable to the inmate and include his DOC #. Mail the money order ONLY to: Line 1: LSP, Line 2: Cashier's Office, Line 3: FOR: inmate name and DOC #, and Line 4: Angola, LA 70712.

Be Blessed.

Default Special Visits

My husband is a trusty at Angola; they are allowed 10 (I think) special visits a year and they must be approved by a Warden. They are "extra" visits for someone currently on the inmates list, so to speak. If the inmates list is full and can't add additional names these visits would still allow them access WITH approval. I hope this helps.
