Default Jefferson Parish to end in-person visits

They are going to video-only.

For Jefferson Parish, these costs for inmates and their families will amount to about $13 for a 20-minute video call. Once a week, would-be visitors will have the option to use the video service free of charge from the department’s visitation center - which, like the correctional facility, is just 20 minutes from downtown New Orleans.

I agree. We did the free jail ones in GA & it was awful. You're in tiny cubicles with other people around. They can hear you & you can hear them. You have to remember to look up so you can see each other & the phone where we were was like back in the day using a landline phone. We both tried to hear what our son was saying. If it cost to do that, that's not worth it. Just another way to make money off the backs of those already trapped. Someone should protest this & make them explain how this makes sense to families.
