Loty,

Some people will buy the sweatpants and sew the pockets shut and then cut them off near the seam. You can try that.

you have to play with the list. kind of mix and match:

maybe: put ravioli under pasta, and the peppers under condiments?

Question Food Packages

Hello I am new to this and not sure I am posting this in the right spot but here goes. I am mailing a food box to Lancaster Prison, in Ohio and the list says cans of meat, cans of chili. Ok I am not sure about sending cans, I want them to get the food but I am worried about sending cans and them not getting it. A little background I have twin boys in there, they are 22. If you have any tips or advice, please email me at [EMAIL please send PM [/email]
Thanks
Ronda

Glad to know I'm not the only one who just about lost it trying to get these boxes packed!

And tomorrow's the last day to have them postmarked!

Don't understand though about the storage limit inside? How is there room for everything?

I helped his aunt get the stuff for his clothes box together. He was worried about getting it postmarked on time. Plus, I got him a gold necklace and he wants it bad.

But they appreciate the boxes so much that it's worth all the craziness. It's the last time they can get their favorites, like Skyline or Keystone or Mars bars.

I loved putting the boxes together since it's about all I can do or touch that he can touch too.

The first time I sent a box, the man in line behind me said, "Oh, are you sending a box to your son in Iraq?" I looked him in the eye and smiled and said, "Nope, I'm sending a box to my husband in prison." He looked uncomfortable but I just kept looking at him and smiling until that stranger understood that I love my guy and I'm proud of him.

Sorry, I'm a rambler.

NO, no boxes!! Check the other sticky forum here for details and links to the web site of the only vendor that food and sundry items may be ordered from. The rules are also on the DOC web site. Also, if you have a friend in an Ohio prison, he can give you all details and let you know if he can receive packages.

Certainly! You can send any amount of money you wish and it has nothing to do with the packages. I make sure that Doc has $50/week in his account so he can get whatever he wants from Commissary...and I sometimes send more money if he needs shoes or other sundry items.

http://www.drc.state.oh.us/ Bookmark this site and refer to it often. If he is still in reception, you can't send anything but must wait until he gets to his permanent prison in a few weeks. For right now, just send cards and letters and you should be able to send some money so he can buy snacks at the Commissary.... He can tell you about sending money and he should have been given all the necessary rules by a Case Manager.

He doesn't need clothing if he just got there. The State kindly provides clothes to him. I'm sure the situation is very upsetting to you, but take many deep breaths and try to settle down. It will get a bit easier as time goes on. For right now, just pray for him and always let him know you love him and are there emotionally for him.
