Okay... so for family visiting, of course you have to be married, or be immediate family. He can't have any history ever of domestic violence, even if it wasn't against you, even if he didn't go to prison for it.
He can't be Close A or Close B custody, he can't have any division A or B write ups in the last year.
He can't have any violent crimes committed against a family member or a minor.
He can't have any sex offenses.
He can't have a life sentence.
He can't be in Ad seg.
He can't be on C status.
He can't get family visits if he was ever convicted of selling drugs in prison.
Those are the basic qualifications... He can apply for family visiting thru his counselor, and then once he is approved the family visiting coordinator will contact him.

Hello ladies! So my husband is getting transferred from KVSP to Cent soon. If anyone can help answer the following questions that would be great:
1: What colors are the staff wearing at Cent?

2: What colors are the inmates wearing?
(please include all levels...gen. pop, protective custody, etc...due to I know we can't wear nothing like what they are wearing)

3: How much money are we allowed to bring in per person?

4: I see they use VPASS. Do they also have a phone line to call and speak to and officer to get appointment? If so, phone number please & hours to call.

5: Can visitors wear body jewelry, like nose stud?

6: What about regular Jewelry.....
How many rings are allowed?
How many ear rings are allowed?
Bracelets?
Necklace?
Watch?

7: How does the visiting pictures work?
By tokens? Or?

You can't wear solid white, light blue, jeans, or dress exactly like a CO (no khaki top and bottom or olive green top and bottom, no solid orange) I have no idea what people in protective custody wear my husband is level 4 GP and he wears the standard blue.

3: How much money are we allowed to bring in per person?

$50 per person....

They do have a phone number you can call but I'm not sure what the extension is will try and find out. I just use vpass.

5: Can visitors wear body jewelry, like nose stud?

Yes

6: What about regular Jewelry.....

Bracelets?
Necklace?
Watch?

Not sure.... I only wear my wedding ring... I haven't seen limits posted.

7: How does the visiting pictures work?
By tokens? Or?

They have to buy the ducats at store....

Exclamation Need updated visiting info

Hello, I haven't been in ages to visit and I made an appt but I'm a bit concerned about a few things.
1. Haven't gone in a long time will I even be allowed to visit? I have an appt in VPass.
2. What shoes can I wear? Ex. Are my Keens okay?
3. What bottoms /shorts and shirt are allowed.
Last question- I know there is email but I don't remember how to access it to send one. I'd prefer to send a msg saying I'm going ahead of time.
Thank you for your help.

Its been a while since I visited as well and they didnt have Vpass when I did.
Shoes need to have a back on them (no flip flops)
Shorts or skirts cant be any shorter than 2 inches above the knee

Email, I dont know if they have that in state facilities.
(heck maybe they do now)
You could send a post card telling them you are planning to visit.

No patio allowed.... and you probably wouldn't want to because it's nasty and dusty and soooooooo hot..... but it would be nice if they let us walk around during visit. We can only walk to the microwave/vending machine and back to our seats.

On Tuesday my man will be going to arriving from Calpat. I've been reading a lil bit about this prison and know from the basics about visits, I'm aware about changes of clothes to bring because heck who knows what will allowed at any visit at anytime, my question is this, I wear on my feet that aren't quite sandles but really aren't flip flops. They are cushioned with memory foam due to my nueropathy thye don't have straps on the back are they strict on this? I can't wear enclosed shoes either. Lord now if this will be an issue to I guess I'll have to find something that I will be able to wear and won't mess with my being able to walk.

Default VPass Problems

I have tried to get a visit appt for the last 30 days or more. I'm on the site right when the new appt dates kick in and it always says "no appts available". I have never had any problem at any other prison and there must be something that everyone else is doing that I don't know about to get through. I am being forced to go as a walk-in and I'm afraid I won't get in. I have to rent a car, schedule time off, etc so it's really sooo inconvenient to have to do the walk-0in. Any suggestions on how to get through to VPass??

Hello,
You need to be on VPASS no later than 7:55pm and the appointments will pop up after 8:01pm hitting the New Appointment icon on the left side!!!! Always pick 1 visitor no matter what and take the first appointment. Also the appointment are pushed out 2 weeks for the Sunday. Hope it helps.

Its generally safe to wear black. lol.
NO blue, camo, orange, tan, green. (there may be more colors)

Pink should be ok, white is iffy.
I'd stick with black just to be on the safe side.
Nothing too low, too tight. (and I dont think sleeveless is ok either so sleeves needed)

Wink Centinela Visiting Questions

I am an over-thinker, so this is the reason for my question. No sure if I'm even doing this correctly, but here it goes...

I'm wanting to visit a couple of friends that both happen to be in Centinela State Prison. What I hope that someone can help me with is describing every single step by step detail, from the moment you arrive for a visit, to the moment that you leave.

If it makes any difference, one of my friends is in C yard and the other, I think, is in B.

I've never visited anyone in prison before, so I do apologize for my ignorance lol

So ultimately I just want to know, are the visitors in the visiting room place first, and then the inmates join? Or is it vice versa?

how far in advance should one arrive prior to the appt time?

out of curiosity, could I wear my apple watch in there or no?

Thanks in advance!

Every prison is slightly different. General guidelines that cover all prisons are here: https://www.cdcr.ca.gov/visitors/vis...ng-guidelines/. Read it. That will tell you what you can bring, wear etc.

Make sure you have approval to visit them. The inmate has to send you a signed application. You fill it out - one for each inmate you want to visit - mail to visiting dept at prison (Centinela). They take 4 to 6 weeks to approve it. The prison will advise the inmate you want to visit when you are approved. Then the inmate advises you.

You can reserve appointment online which makes process quicker. Or just show up as a walk on. Either way you will get in. There is a processing area, you fill out paperwork, show your photo ID, wait, eventually they call you, you go through security (metal detector etc.) then walk to the specific visiting room for that inmate. Visiting times for most prisons are Saturday and Sunday from about 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

That's about it...

For Centinela, when you drive into the prison you stop at a guard shack and give them your drivers license. They check your trunk and give your ID back with your visiting passes and you drive in and park, fill your passes out in the car so you are ready. Then you walk to the visiting area. If you go earlier in the morning they usually have the visitors waiting in line outside and they call people in in smaller groups based on appointment time. They are usually running behind but you can't be late LOL. Once they call you in, you wait in line to be processed. They make you take off your shoes, and they check your outfit. Usually they are pretty strict, although it depends who checks you in, but most of them are strict. You walk through the metal detector to a little waiting area where you get your pass back. Then they let you out the door and you walk to the visiting area for your yard. B and C are on opposite sides of the prison. Once you get to the visiting area, there is a CO sitting outside the visiting room. You give them your pass and they call your loved ones building and ask for them to be sent down. Then you go inside and walk up to the podium hand them your pass and ID and they assign you a table and you wait for your loved one to come out. It seems like visiting two would be hard unless you got an early appt for the first one and then did a walk in for the other one. You need to be on vpass before the time they release appts and just keep refreshing because the appts are completely gone in one minute or less. You might get a random one if someone lets one go after that but mostly they are all gone on sunday night.

Thumbs up

Omg this is insanely detailed, i love it!

Thank you, I appreciate it SO much! You have no idea the relief I feel just knowing what it is I'm getting myself into! LOL

I probably won't visit them on the same day considering how complicated it sounds to visit just one LOL.

But again, thank you so much for taking your time and typing all of that out for me!
