Default Took his J-player away because he let someone else listen to music on it?

I'm just curious if this is common... My ex just called and said they took his J-player away because he let someone else listen to music on it. Are they not allowed to do this?

Rule of thumb: If it isn't yours, do not possess it / use it.

Per Virginia DOC Policy:
Quote:
An offender may not loan, trade, sell, or give away personal property;

See page 3 HERE.

You have to just accept the fact that people get strong-armed all the time to 'lend' items This is the prison's way to minimize that. It also clearly limits the friendships that can come with sharing, but that's the way something as poorly imagined and punitively set up as a US prison is going to work.

Oh, I am sure he wasn't "strong-armed." He happily let someone use it in exchange for something. He doesn't know how to follow rules, and I'm glad it was taken. I was just curious if they would over that.

MY LO always let someone in his pod use his player or vice versa. I just was talking to him this morning and he switched his with someone elses because they both had music each wanted to hear on their own devices. He never has a problem but I doubt if they would want them to do it. My bae pod mad chill tho! The CO's in their pod are cool with them. They don't create issues so its no problems.

Because individual property can be used as a way to pay off debts, be taken as a form of extortion, stolen or any number of other things it is strictly controlled. These items are tracked by serial numbers and in most institutions engraved with the owners name and number. Often when someone is found with someone else's property it is confiscated and that individual could face charges.
