Default Florida State Prison negative balance and transferring money

Hi everybody,

I recently started writing to a inmate on Death Row in Florida State Prison.
I would like to support him with a little bit of money for commissary, but he told me his account has a negative balance (due to medical expenses, legal fee etc).

Does this mean that the money I would be transferring would be used to pay of those debts? Or does he still receive a percentage of it?
I can't find anything about this on the website of the prison, I was hoping someone here knows how Florida State Prison deals with this.

Thank you!

I think it will go towards the negative balance honestly.. never heard of a negative balance for legal fees tho.. id have to look into that .. i know they do charge $5 for medical visits and $1 every time they go to canteen...

Thank you for your anwer. He send me a letter with his trust fund account statement. It has for instance $160 for legal postage ander $506 for medical co-payment. And some other things.
Total debt is about $1500, which I could never pay for him. Meaning he would probably never have any extra money for commissary?

http://www.dc.state.fl.us/ci/funds.html

maybe give them a call and ask incase there is some instance he may get atleast some of it. I have been looking around the internet and even asked my boyfriend (he said hes never met someone who has had a negative balance so he wouldn't even know who to ask).. they may be able to give you a much more secure answer
