Default Moved Again: Why do they move prisoners around so much?

Why do they move prisoners around so much? I have seriously lost track of how many times they have moved my ex husband since he went into the system in Dec. of 2017. He is supposed to be released in Dec. of 2019. I know he has been to at least 7 or 8 facilities so far.

You do not indicate where the moves were from or where to. In many instances, it takes a series of stops to get from Point A to Point B. I have discussed on multiple occasions about the hub and spoke transportation processes in place with TDCJ.

I have seriously lost track of all the different prisons he has been in now and he is just serving a 2 year term. He had been at a prison north of Huntsville, maybe 2 of them and then back to Huntsville. Then to Darrington, and McConnell, then Segovia for a few days and over the course of a 2 week period he is now back to Huntsville and went through all the same prisons on the way back as he was in on the way down. I can't believe all the moving around they do with these prisoners. I can't believe it is cost effective. I would have to say just off the top of my head, since Dec. of 2017 he has been in at least 10 different TX prisons once he got into the system.

Yeah, they move them around a lot. They don’t have a direct bus system that takes guys from one prison to another, and they don’t leave every day. So when my husband left the transfer unit he had a go back acorss Texas to another unit (Byrd) to finish intake and then to his ID unit (which was really close to where he started)...and all that meant he stopped at half a dozen places on the way. It’s frustrating because you can’t communkcate, but eventually it stops and there’s a bit of consistency. I hope he’s back to where he’s staying this time.
