Default Has anyone used Ting?

Since call forwarding is frowned upon by the BOP and we don't want to take any chances I was thinking of picking up a cheap burner phone and using Ting for just those minutes. With the out of state price we pay $63/mo but with just the 300 minutes through Ting it should be $30 (18 for local calls and 15 for the line). Plus with a CDMA phone it says you can change your number at any time (for when he's moved). I just want to see if anyone else has used their service for BOP calls. Looking for a good long term option since it could be a $1200 savings for his term.

I never heard of Ting, but one thing that is allowed by the bop is having a local number to the prison (area code and prefix) assigned to a cell phone. As long as the phone number called is assigned to the phone that is answered, regardless of where the phone resides, it is not "call forwarding".

I use Ting for my regular cell service & Pigeonly for a local number and sending photos. I like them both very much.
