Default Federal sentencing: federal inmates only having to serve 65% of sentene?

Does anyone know if the first step act has gone in to affect with federal inmates only having to serve 65% of their sentence instead of 85%

I believe you're mistaken....the number of days credited has changed due to the 1st Step Act, but not enough to be only 65%

I'm going to move your thread to the Federal forum for you

EDIT: There are a couple of threads that have info on the 1st Step Act in the Federal sub-forum Federal System News, Events and Legal Issues. Here is link to that sub-forum:

The bop is still stalling the change in good time from 47 to 54 days/year, adding one extra week for each year of the sentence, The delay will only hurt inmates who are about to be released, and those who already have been. The change will actually bring federal sentences down to 85%, what the bop has been claiming they were. It should happen soon.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if newly sentenced felons are getting the correct calculations or is that caught up in this nonsense too, so they're making double work for them when they finally fix the whole calculation in a few months? Stupid!

While the 65% time served change hasn't happened yet, I think that the president's son-in-law has this goal on his agenda, and he seems to have the juice to pull something like this off. Time will tell.

I believe it was mishandled and that in July it might be corrected and the time credited them. But I have heard of some mate who were released early.
So i5 may be in process. Dona
