5/2 will have your LO on either a MAX or CLOSE yard.

I found this on the ADOC website. My understanding is the custody level is the required level based on their conviction and years sentenced. For example someone is classified as a level 2 custody risk/MIN level can only be a Custody 2 level if they have less than 5 years on their sentence and no major tickets etc recently. The institutional risk he the classification for risk they feel for internal staff etc.

6.0 INTERNAL RISK LEVEL PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTIONS The internal risk level provides the minimum basis for classifying inmates for internal purposes such as levels of supervision for work assignments, program, and housing decisions. The inmate classification internal risk system consists
of five internal risk (IR) levels:

6.1 IR 5 is the highest risk to the public, staff, and other inmates of escape or committing violence within the perimeter and/or under the direct supervision of Department staff.

Hope this helps!

It's an inside/outside risk assessment. The inside is after evaluation in intake, how much of a pain does DOC think you'll be for them while in custody. Aggression to inmates/staff, property damage, general defiance, etc. The outside number is risk to society upon release. That's based some on intake evaluation, but more on what you're convicted of, and the likelihood of reoffending.
