Default Level 2 Institutions

I know that some of you have loved ones in Level 2 institutions. Could you please post your information here or in the prison profiles section? I would like all the info that you can give me. Such as visiting, etc.

Are there any institutions where you can bring food in for the inmate? Is smoking a "no-no" at all institutions? Are there any institutions where you can visit outside? Thanks for any and all help.

Barb

Default Walden

My son was at Walden for a while and we both thought it was a pretty fair place. You visit outdoors, can smoke, but you cannot take food in. There is playground equipment for the kids. It has been about a year since I was there for a visit, I guess it has not changed. I think Stevenson and Northside are also some of the better prisons, but they may be a level 1, I am not sure.
Does anyone out there know anything about these prisons? Thanks, Susie

Allendale is level 2. Check the prison profiles for this one.
You can't bring in food or smoke there and visitation is always inside.

My fiance is in Kershaw Correctional facility which is also a Level 2 institution. You may want to call the institution to find out what they allow and dont allow. If you go to the SCDC website http://www.doc.sc.gov/ there is a link that says Information for families. That is very useful as it gives the no nos and visiting rules. I was told that each institution has its own visiting days and hours. For anyone needing info on it, they may want to call the facility their loved one is in.
