TDC will give them a bus pass. They walk from the unit, one block to the bus and get an actual bus ticket. In the same building, is a small resale type store. They can cash both checks there (commissary and their exit check) and get used and some new street clothes.

My friend went to Dallas and we went to that little store and bought him a bunch of clothes and then he got on the bus. Once in Dallas, he had a certain amount of time (ankle monitor) before he had to check in at the halfway house and yes, he had to find his own way from the bus stop/station to the halfway house.

I certainly saw some ladies dressed "very enticingly" to greet their guy when I was at the Walls for my honey

This is a good forum to read, and not to read, me, I am waiting for, at this point, April, 2008, should be late Feb or early March, if they get his time right. I am so happy for those of you who have your loved ones back in your arms! But it brings so many tears to my eyes, also. Terry is in state jail, will he go to Huntsville also to be released? My mine has that day so engraved in my mind, I cannot wait till I can take him home!

So I'm a bit confused. Do they start releasing at 8am or 10? Is everyone just recommending we get there by 8 to find a parking spot?

There is a very nice Hospitality House in Huntsville. I talked to several people who stayed there.

My time hasn't come up yet,(December 2008), but I like reading this post especially because it gives me hope when I am feeling down. Please keep posting for those of us who haven't started this quest.

If they are at a pre-parole transfer facility, do they get released from there, or do they travel down to Huntsville too?

They are released directly from pre-parole and state jail. You will need to take them clothes to come home in. You can check with the unit for times etc.

You might just call Gatesville and get all the particulars. Congrats on the homecoming. I know you are super excited.

Oh yes! I am excited, but not as excited as she is! WE are SUPER happy she will finally be out!
Thanks for the advice. When all else fails, call them. maybe I'll get a straight answer (that will be a first!) lol

It would indeed be a first. LOL! I have read that the women are released about 8:00 and you just drive up to get them. Let us know what they tell you. Congrats on the HOMECOMING!!! Great News!

I believe it will be on Friday. My son's release date was also a Sunday and we picked him up on Friday. Those 2 extra days felt like a moral victory.

I guess it depends, because we were told it would be on a Monday, when the release date fell on Sunday. Friday would be better!!!!!!

Thanks. But I am still lost. There’s got to be a way to find out what day he will be released on. I hope they release him on Friday because it will be agonizing if I get there and have to wait two more days for him to be released.
