Can anyone confirm where ladies get released from? Especially those TDC ID that are in state jails? Do they take them to Gatesville?

Online it says that women get released through Gatesville- but I'm not sure about state jails. You might want to call the unit and ask them.

I have a Q- I can't be at the Walls unit until 11AM because of circumstances I can't prevent. Do they have a place for him to wait or do they just send everyone else to the bus station? Are they able to wait at the bus station for someone to pick them up if they're not there when they get out? If so- where is the bus station?

Thanks!

Blackrock Duo, yes, he can wait at the bus station until you get there. Depending on what his release status is, off paper, on parole, heading out of state, etc, makes a difference on when he actually walks out the door. He may not have to wait too long for you to get there or you may already be there. The bus station is right down the street from the Walls Unit. Sorry, I can't remember what order they're released in but someone will come along that can tell you.
Congrats, I'm so excited for you!!!!

The offenders that are not on parole come out of the front doors first. The parolees come out another door at the end of the building and are released in groups of about 20. State jail offenders are released from the State Jail they are in. Women are all released from the Gatesville unit and I think you just do a drive through to pick them up. If in doubt about anything call the unit for clarification.

Default Need a question answered, please

About a year ago I met a female inmate through a penpal site. We have become really close and she wants me to pick her up when she is released. I don't have a clue as to how to do that.
She is in a unit at Lockhart, Tx now but says she will be transferred to Gatesville for release. Is there any specific procedure l need to follow? Do l need to go in a office and sign anything? The only info she has given me is just be there by 8:00am.
I've read a lot of posts here and most say that inmates are released from Huntsville. ls it possible that female inmates are released at Gatesville instead? I would appreciate any help anyone can offer because her release date is Sept. 17th.

twostepn---The women are released from Gatesville. You can call Gatesville and get more information on how to pick someone up. I'm not sure how they do it there. sorry.

Just a thought, but could she not possibly be released from Lockhart? I know the men are released directly from the unit, because it is a private facility, so why not the women also?
I don't know, I'm just asking--
Maybe a phone call to the unit would be in order?

(Dillon is at Lockhart...)

Is it a sure thing they will be released from Lockhart? My husband is at this unit and it would be so much more convenient to pick him up from here than the Walls Unit. If so do you have any info. on how it is to pick him up here?

Just get to Lockhart EARLY as possible because when they release it could be crazy. They start releasing at the State jail the same time the Walls Release. So, get there early. Release begins at 8 and ends at 5. The best thing for you to do is to call the unit and they will give you accurate info on how the release procedure works. The number is: (512) 398-3480

Out of curiousity? Can an inmate not parole to someone living in an apartment? Do they have to parole out to the county they were in when they first went into prison? Can they change their living status after they have established a PO/parolee relationship? What are the rules about having an ankle monitor and having a land line? Is it true that they will have this monitor put on before walking out of the unit? Is it standard to have to report 24 hours after release?

I'm not sure about parolling out of county, you might want to call the PO in that county and ask them. My husband will have the ankle monitor and I have already had a second line installed just for that. I have a digital phone with time warner and it can't be digital. It also can't have call waiting, forwarding, answering machine or fax. So I went through at&t - it's about sixteen dollars a month. From what I have heard, once they receive word that he will be released, someone from the PO's office comes and sets up the monitor on the line. Then he is released with the monitor and has to go straight home. I was told by the PO that did the home visit we could stop and eat, but we needed to go straight home after that. Each county may be different. Hope this helps.
