Default Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution on lockdown

EOCI locks down after inmates brawl
Fights not related to shooting at Snake River prison

By Phil Wright
The East Oregonian

Security staff at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution used chemical agents to break up a brawl between about 50 people Sunday afternoon. The medium security men's prison remains in a modified lockdown.

EOCI Public Information Officer Doug Harder said prison officials are keeping activities at a reduced pace and have closed the prison's yard to ensure the facility runs smoothly. Later today EOCI administrators will consider when the prison will return to normal operations.

At approximately 1:40 p.m. Sunday, multiple fights broke out in the common activities area of a housing unit on the east side of the prison. Harder said details of what started the clash are still fuzzy, but an inmate may have thrown a table or chair, and that may have incited others to do the same.

My Man was asking me about this earlier. They had heard news about it at TRCI, and he was wondering if I had seen anything about it on here. I've got this horrible feeling that it's going to just keep spreading on through Oregon though...!

JJT~

The 'link' for the article doesn't work. Says you have to subscribe to the Eastern Oregon Oregonian. I subscribe to the Oregonian in the Portland area, I wonder if I can access the eastern Oregon articles? But is that the whole article? And thanks for the post!
