Yes it will be moved "eventually" but if I were you I would send him money enough to at least get the basic hygiene products and stamps/paper/envelopes. If you don't he will be very uncomfortable.
Hope I have helped.

If he is in the fed, and moves from one of their prisons to another (different for private prisons rented by the fed), his same inmate account will always be available to him immediately. No idea about state systems though.

One of my man's co-defendants was moved from Fed to county for some new charges and they never moved his money over. Thankfully he was only there for 3 weeks and I put $20 on his account so he could call his family in Ukraine (his mom is dying from cancer...so sad!).

I called the private Fed prison where I believe my man will be moved to and they said the money WILL come over but it may take a few weeks. The CO suggested that as soon as I hear he's being moved there to mail a money order so he can have money as soon as possible to call, etc. I hope that helps. If you know where he is going I would just suggest calling and asking them.

My boyfriend was transferred on April 6 from a county jail in GA to a county jail in IN. I went up to the jail in GA and asked about his commissary money transferring and they said it would just take "a little while". Well here it is the end of May and it still hasn't transferred yet. I have my doubts that it ever will be moved. It is less than $30 but that is a lot of money to me!
