Hello
What are a PD's requirements to help their clients after sentencing? My LO was recently released to a HWH. He still has HC and probation after this. He has been trying to contact his PD for the last weeks and I have too. Before he went in he told my husband he would file a motion for him regarding his sentence and travel related to his job after serving his time..not sure why he won't take our calls. Is it bc he is no longer required to assist him? If not I would like to know so I can find another lawyer ASAP. Please help.

If that one PD is ignoring you, ask the office supervisor or the head PD your questions. Stuff sometimes runs downhill from bosses to employees. You should at least be able to find out if you need to hire a private lawyer.

He should also write to the PD office and mention in his letter who represented him, not just try to call. PD's are very busy and often not available right away to the phone. The PD will likely not respond to a family member (with express permission of the client and even sometimes not then)
but would to a letter from a (former) client.

It could be he has changed jobs and is now a prosecutor or even working as an attorney in a private firm? Public defenders normally move on and up after time. Money is much better on the other side / either side.
