I found this article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv...supermax18.htm

Can anyone confirm or deny that this is what it's like?

I live near there so I know a couple of the CO's and nurses and it is a rough prison, and I've been told that alot of the CO's there are as bad as the inmates... I wish I had better news for you but hopefully what I heard is an exaggeration.

Post Wallens Ridge

My son just got there today. Ive heard good and bad things. It started out years ago pretty rough but from what I have researched its no picnic but inmates can make it rough or easier as they adjust. Im in cali so i wont visit for awhile. If you or anyone knows more resent postings like this past year it would be nice to hear. Good luck

its not all bad. my husband has been there 3 1/2 years. he stays by choice because I live local. there are good cops and bad cops. what all do you want to know? i'll be glad to answer your questions if I can. I know most of the OP's better then the cops there.

What are the pros and cons (pun not intended) of Wallens Ridge? And do they have a good chaplain?

I replied to your other post Im just learning how this works. I dont know what to ask exactly. Im trying to get a local phone number to keep rates down. I just know hes been in Pumunkey regional jail and has had job out time etc. When I talked with him from segregation yesterday he was surprised he was in a 5 instead of a 4 because his counselor had recommended 4. Hell just have to leard the ropes and adjust. All of us will. Thanks for your help. Its good to speak with someone who has a loved one there. Ive heard such bad things about everything there on the internet its hard to get a handle on all of it. Being in Cali I have to figure out visiting latter. Thanks again

the chaplin and I don't get along for personal reasons. I know him from the streets because its a small area. so I maintain distance to keep myself from spouting my mouth off to him see my reply on another post in this thread and on the other wrsp thread. hope it helps!

I found this link from April 15, 2013. It's probably outdated, but current enough to be concerned: http://virginiaprisonstrike.blogspot...-strikers.html
