Default Mailing rules for Stillwater

I have a friend/pen-pal at Stillwater (aka STL)and wanted to pass along the info I have gotten by calling Stillwater to make sure that I was doing it right.

About letters: Letters should NOT contain glitter, scents,, polaroids, stickers, painted items, crayons and other similar items.

Pictures: Pictures are limited to 20 pictures per envelope.

Books from Amazon: Books can be ordered and sent from Amazon BUT the books must be something that the inmate has requested. So make sure the inmate has made Stillwater aware that they requested these books or they may be returned.

Putting money on acct: STL now uses Jpay in order to put money on inmates accts. They do not deal in money orders or other types of payment anymore. You much open a Jpay account and that money can be used to buy items from the canteen, or for the inmate to receive emails from you at the rate of .40 (cents) each. The emails will be printed out and given to the inmate. The inmates do NOT have the capacity to email letters back yet.

You may order magazines for the inmate as long as it comes from a publisher. Of course questionable magazine with nudity and forbidden topics (guns, violence, etc) will not be allowed.

You may also clip an article or a few pages of puzzles to put in with your letter. Do not overload the envelope with them, simply pick a few and send them in.

I called the mailroom here and spoke to a very helpful person
