Default Scathing article: Southern Health Partners / Advanced Corr. Healthcare

If everyone is aware of the inadequacy of the healthcare our loved ones receive, why the hell is nothing done??

Dying for Dollars: Health care in Kentucky jails

For two days, Ronald Gaunce lay in the Montgomery County jail, wracked with pain from severe drug withdrawal and awaiting medical care that never came.
Meanwhile, Ronald Waldridge, Gaunce’s taxpayer-funded doctor, was 80 miles away in Shelbyville. Waldridge neither spoke to nor examined Gaunce before he died of a seizure on March 25, 2013.
Waldridge was a busy man. Four days a week, he saw as many as 24 patients a day – more than the national average – at his private office. But he also had a side job: “medical director” at 21 Kentucky jails for Southern Health Partners, a private, for-profit health care company.

This has been one of my "soap boxes" I get on regarding the lack of health care in the prison system. Hubby was a paralegal and he helped another inmate with a case that he filed against corrections. I did medical discovery on it for him and they won their lawsuit against the department. Lack of proper medical care is just one of the issues I have about the legal system. Another big one is the lack of preparation to help inmates rehabilitate while incarcerated so they can be successful when they get out. Thanks, Patch, for bringing this article to our attention!
