Default They've suddenly denied visits and we want to get married

So here's my story.
I met my Fiancé as a pen pal. I live in ny and he's in ct. I visited him every chance I've gotten. Then mysteriously they denied me of visiting him, no matter what. Now we want to get married. Right now everything is just a waiting game. I just don't know what the process is of getting visiting rights or getting married. Can some one help please

Maybe you have to know him before he got locked up. Did you write a letter to the warden?

I thought about it. I just didn't like the idea of possibly getting no response I guess

How did they notify you that they were terminating your visiting? Did they give any reason?

They didn't notify me at all. I just so happened to call before I went to visit and they said my name wasn't on the list.

99% of the time the warden will get back to you. How long ago did you send the application in?

That could be a computer/clerical error or he could have removed you. You won't be able to get to the bottom of why it happened without asking. Everyone here can only guess.

Ignore my last response, I didn't see your answer. They sent denial papers to him, what is the reason for denial that they gave?

Because I didn't know him prior to him being incarcerated. But I've visited him more than 10 times before he got to Osborn

Well... if you have a reason I guess it's not so mysterious. Different prisons can have very different rules so if he moved, you'll have to play by the new rules. Or... Did you answer that question falsely on the application at the other prison?

Appeal the decision. If you are the only visitor he has and you can explain why visiting will help his rehabilitation, you may be approved... above all, don't try to lie. Good luck.

No one lied about anything. I am the only visitor he has. There was nothing to answer falsely even if I wanted to. Thanks tho

I didn't mean to imply that you did. Just mentioning that it could have been a reason why they were approved at one place and not the other. Some visiting applications specifically ask if you knew each other prior to the incarceration.

Did he perhaps get a shot for something that you don't know about? If he got a shot (write up) they could take away visiting. Is he in the hole?

He's been on good behavior. They just said because I didn't know him prior but I've visited him multiple times

...in a DOC prison? Or in county?

County rules and prison rules are different.

Or, if he was in a private prison, then transferred to a DOC prison, perhaps the 2 have different rules about visitation.

Usually, once approved for visits (DOC) you're approval goes with him if he's transferred to another DOC facility.

That they allowed visitation prior to approval is no guarantee that you will be approved. Sometimes they will do that if the inmate has no other visitors, or if you travel a great distance to see him, but in the end you still have to go through the regular application process. Sorry that you are going through this. When you write to the warden, make sure to talk about the things that will really matter to him/her. Your lack of criminal record, the bond you have developed, your positive contributions to his rehabilitation. Do not go on about the unfairness of the denial after being allowed what amounts to courtesy, unapproved visits.

Nowhere in the Connecticut DOC Visitation Policy does it say that inmates have to know approved visitors before incarceration Doesn't mean that it isn't an internal policy, but one would think something like that would be included in their written policies:

Visitation Policy HERE.

Are you on another inmate's visitation list? A former employee? Do you have a case pending? Have you had a visit terminated for not following visitation rules? Were you on his visit list and removed, or just denied? Grasping at straws here.....
