Angry Louisiana State Penitentiary--greeting cards not allowed

Hello All,

I have just heard that inmates at Angola can no longer receive greeting cards. Is that legal? I thought it was against the law to tamper with the US mail. Anyway, just giving the Angola peeps a heads up!

A lot of DOC's are changing their mail rules In kentucky, we can't send colored envelopes. All mail has to be in white envelopes. Yeah, it sucks, but apparently its legal.

Colorado do not allow greeting cards . They were apparently posing a security threat . Telling loved ones not to post greetings cards isn’t tampering with the mail.

Placing a restriction on what sort of items may be sent to an inmate is not tampering with the mail. Agencies may impose reasonable limitations. There are too many cards out there that lend themselves to the introduction of contraband into a facility. As such, because of the actions of a few, many will have limitations imposed...
