Default Need Parole Attorney: Arrest at 17, serving 50 on agg robbery, 1st hearing

Looking for a parole attorney. My husband comes up for parole in May 2020. He was 17 when arrested. Serving 50 for agg robbery. This will be his first time up for parole . Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Default Trent vs. Stouwie? Help!

I am looking at two attorneys for my husbands parole: Trent Marshall and Kevin Stouwie.

My husbands received 50 yrs for agg robbery.
17 at the time, no prior arrest.
Will have served 25 yrs when up for first parole.
Has completed every program available.
Received his HS diploma and two Associate degrees while incarcerated.

Any information on either two of these lawyers would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Prison Talk - I merged your two threads into one as they appear to be about the same issue (other one was posted on our TN forums but I assume this is TX related - if not, let me know and we can move to the appropriate forum)

Default Parole Atty

I really liked Mary Samman She was very helpful, has a great relationship with the board! Iknow it is unusual but my husband made parole his 1st visit and he has priors and my brother made parole his 2nd visit which was the 1st time she represented him. She will not represent you if she does not think she will get a favorable vote by the 2nd time and is very upfront and realstic. My prayers go out to you, that is a long time !!

Prior to being a Parole Commissioner in Gatesville, Trent Marshall worked in the Governer's office under Rick Perry. He has a good relationship with the Gatesville panel.

The positives of his case are this was his first conviction, age at time of offense (17), amount of time served-25 years, program participation as you indicated. There is no mention of disciplinary conduct, if clean within the last 5 years that should be a positive too. Based on his young age at TDCJ entry, initial disciplinary infractions would not be surprising to a voter.

Possible negatives are if he received a 50 year sentence with no previous convictions, I suspect that there may be serious bodily injury involved. If there is a victim that actively protests, that can be a hurdle.

Thanks for the info he has had one case in the last 5 years for contraband. Yes there was bodily injury involved I am not sure if the victims family will protest or not. He also has a in’s detainer, so most likely he will be deported to Mexico.

He did a great job and helped my nephew get parole on first review. Make sure you send Mr. Marshall as much as possible for his parole package (letters of support, pictures, etc).

We also requested that we be present for the review call. We were all very pleased with him.
