Default Lock down at Macon State Prison

Hi everyone
I had an email this morning, telling me Macon State Prison is on lock down. LO doesn't know why. I'm just putting it out there incase it affects visitation.

Thank you very much, GWLG. This kind of information is invaluable (as you know), especially for people waiting for a call or traveling long distances to visit.

I've moved your thread to the mail & visitation forum, since that's where most folks would look for lockdown information.

I was told today, it was a short lock down for a fire drill. I find it pretty scarey that they are locked down if there's a fire??

They lock them down when the staff does the fire drill - because all the staff will be practicing the drill. The inmates don't take part in a fire drill.

Actually, fire drills and fire inspector inspections are pretty important given the nature of the building and its occupants. Better to have a half day of lockdown than to have a fire break out and none of the staff know what to do.
