I've never heard of them asking for the inmates BC...most of them don't have it...if you can't get it, I would really look into that and see if that's necessary. All the girls I know who have gotten married, none of them needed his bc or id...That's crazy!!!

Yea I spoke to her today too and she said its not the prison its Kern County requesting it. Which is so dumb. It's clear they're in custody. So now I'm completely lost on how to get a copy of his ID or something that they will consider valid. I have his birth certificate but no ID :/ I'm gonna look for his parole face sheet from when he was paroled last time and see if that'll do since it has his picture, social, DOB and ID number. Ugghh this sucks!!!

http://www.co.kern.ca.us/ctyclerk/marriage/faq.asp

This is the website for the Kern County Clerks office. It says: " If you are 18 years of age or older and would like to purchase a PUBLIC license, you will need a driver's license or some form of valid government issued photo ID."

So from my understanding of that, the cards our guys bring out to the CO's during contact visits should suffice. It is a gov't issued photo ID. The website gives the name and phone number of the county clerk. You might want to try calling them to see what other options are available. Good luck ladies!

Thanks!! I'm calling tomorrow and see what they say. Hopefully that little ID card will work. The only obstacle is finding a staff member who will kindly make a copy of it for him lol. Thanks girly!

Just a quick response - I was able to get his birth certificate; I just went on a web site and printed out the paper work he needed to fill out and sent it in to him and then he sent it back to me all filled out and i sent it in with a money order and it was sent to me. We were approved when he was over at Tehachapi but we couldnt go through with it because he was being transferred over to kern prior to the date they gave us for our wedding...

You need the NKSP Forum.. That is where they are held for reception, and as far as i am aware they are not allowed to use the phone. Sorry! Hope that helped.

My husband had to reques the package 3 times before it was sent to him. Get him to request it again and make sure he is also sending in the trust withdrawl slip.

It took several weeks to get the packet for my man. Then 3 months to schedule a marriage date. We were married Jan. 20th, 2012 at KVSP D yard visiting room. Hoping for a nice wedding when he come home in a year and a half though

Anybody have any info on how I can get my mans birth certificate? His mom refuses to give it to me. My man and I have a daughter together, yet his family don't want us to get married. . I tried doing it online but it asked for a notarized letter from him.

It varies from State to State...some are easier than others. If it is absolutely in stone that he needs a notarized statement he can arrange that through his counselor, of course there will be a charge
