Smile Writing, Drawings & Cards by prison friend

Last year I met a wonderful person through a PTO card swap. Aubrey, a prisoner in the federal system with a sad and lifelong history of homelessness, mental illness and stints in prison.

But he never lost his optimism and his drive. He learnt himself to read and write at the age of 35, and now in his early sixties he writes wonderful inspirational pieces, funny stories, works at a c(r)ookbook with prison recipes, and writes short stories about being homeless or being in prison. He has a blog here where you can find this.

Lately, he began making awesome pop out cards. See a few examples below in the attachments.

Those pop-up cards are great.

Your friend has had a hard life and I am glad he has you.

Awesome! Love that they pop-out!

The 4th pic: "Prison for the Dumbfounded and Aghast" [LOL] has a bar code on it!?

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I will tell Aubrey, and I'm sure he will be delighted.

If you write him - address here - he might even send you one of his cards . Until now, I am on the receiving end for the brunt of them . They are all handmade and a little different. The barcode is probably taken from some commissary item. Gotta use what's available in prison.

Not wanting to take all the credit, there are more people involved in helping him. I opened his virtual home on the internet, but someone else is working at getting him a real home after his release.

Default ATM Popup Card

Money issues? My pen pal sent me the ultimate solution. An ATM that delivers crook money! How cool is that? A disclaimer would come in handy, though: use at your own risk...

Click here for a fitting story on his blog.
