I visited my Hunny there yesterday for the first time. Our visit was great! It was the first time I seen him in 2 months, the first touch in over 7. All of the guards were really nice. I was as polite as possible, but since I am ready to have a baby any day now, they all were very accomidating to us. It seemed they were empathetic to our situation. They even let Matt touch my belly when the baby was kicking! He had to pee at one time though (really bad) and they wouldnt let him go for like a half hour because there were visitors coming into the prison. Besides that, everyone was nice and we got to kiss 3 times at the end of the visit!! The chip machine was broken and the food in the vinding machines is nasty so I recommend eating something before your visit.

I don't know why the CO's traet us like were inmates. I undrstand there are rules and I don't have a problem folling the rules but his is crazy when I went to see my hsband up north everyone there was very friendly and helpful. And now that he is here I feel like I am in prison. I don't want to say anything so that I can't visit.

Hi,
My brother was just transferred to West Shoreline Correctional Facility (MTF) today. We have not heard from him yet. Does anyone have a loved one there and like to share what the facility is like and about the visiting? He was a Boyer Road (5 months) which was a decent place but was transferred out for a required class he needed. I hope it is an ok place. Is there much trouble there? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks:0)

Default West Shoreline

My son was in Brooks level 2 for just 2 months, then transferred to Shoreline (secure level 1). He just called today. He really liked Brooks better. Two to a private cell. Now he is in what he called a huge polebarn with 7 or 8 guys all together. He is just in a temporary space waiting for a bed. He had a bed at Brooks! He said it is so filthy. The bathroom fixtures are old and it is so bad in the bathrooms you can't breathe. I guess there is one table for everyone. A little metal rack at foot of bed for a t.v. to go on. He said food is same as Brooks. Pretty bland. There is more to do, such as bead work, leather work, etc. Unfortunately he was just given a job at Brooks and then they shipped him out. How's that for organization??

Ive been to visit him there a few times now. We got married 5/16 (!!!!!!!) and that was the most unromatic, demeaning experience. The Counselors and Chaplain put me thru hell and made me jump thru a ton of hoops as far as letting my parents come to the wedding. Anyhow, they did approve our kids for visit THAT DAY so that my husband got to see his newborn son for the first time. They are STRICT about no cleavage at visits and for the most the CO's are pretty cool. He says hes been in better places, and hes been in worse...much worse.

Whoever is complaining about the Playboy is a jealous wife/girlfriend etc. It's obvious. I'm not trying to be an a$$hole, but my husband did 10 years and he's been home for 3 so I feel like I have some experience. Also, all this talk about getting in touch with shift commanders and complaining?? Are you crazy? You NEVER, EVER, EVER call the prison and especially NOT to complain. Mark my words - ya man will suffer. Hang in there ladies, my hubby came home about 3 years ago and did everything he said he was going to - and more. We own a business, a huge home in Boston and a 34ft. yacht. We built all this together when he got home - when he arrived, we had NOTHING. If there's substance abuse issues, HE HAS TO GO TO AA, there is NO OTHER way. Be supportive even if he wants to go to a meeting every night, I know it's hard - I have 4 kids and get jealous sometimes that he's out and about at meetings while I'm stuck home with all the kids. But I just remind myself that if he doesn't have his sobriety, we won't have $HIT. God bless you all and keep praying - it works!!

I just came back from a vist and the drop box for money is gone and my husband said the whole buisness office is closed. So now everything gets mailed there, routed to lansing, then back out to the inmates account it takes my hubby almost one full week to get money now. That is just crazy gotta love budget cuts.

My husband has been there for a few months now. He has had problems with them not giving him my mail or the pictures of our kids that were included in them. I did call and complain to the mail room supervisior and the Admin. Asst to the warden and ya know what??? Magicly 15 letters and about 20 pictures appeared in hubbys mail the next day. No, you cant call and be a lunatic on the phones. But, I have had results when calling and being calm, collected and professional to them and let them know that he is LOVED, and I am informed on the policys and I will always be in his corner. I think that maintianing communication with the prison has helped. They approved our kids for visit immediately on our wedding day because I called and complained about other issues and opened up to his ARUS what the situation is. These people arent all cold and heartless. Sometimes when they see that you arent going to back down or be a problem they give you a little respect. I even got a bonus bathroom break on our fathers day visit because they know me now!!! As far as the material posessions...thats all great. Either get it YOURSELF or wait until he comes home and start from squat. Either way, I would be happy in a cardboard box with my Matthew and nothing can change that!!!

Hello everyone. My brother is at West Shoreline. Just got transfered from Muskegon. I have not visited or received a phone call yet. I have spoke with his counselor and he seems really nice. So if anyone needs some info I might be able to help and Im not afraid to call up there and ask general questions.

Default Just in case

Here is an update for West Shoreline- I got a phone call and my brother sounds really good! No visitation approvals yet but i keep checking on that. He said he has 7 bunkies so i assume 8 per "bunk" for lack of better words. He also said that he is now a level 1 and they are doing some sort of test with the guys on their security levels, unfortunately i do not know the specifics or if there is any truth to the matter. Thats all i have for now. i'll keep checking in.

AND he seems to have gotten all of our letters so far and we are waiting to see when he gets a book we sent to him. Delivery of the book was on 11-17-08 to the facility but as of saturday 11-22-08 he has not gotten it.

Default Carpooling from Tri-City Area

I am looking for someone to carpool to West Shoreline Correctional Facility. I would like to catch a ride with someone in or around the Saginaw, Midland, Bay City area so I can visit my boyfriend.

Thanks!

Yes Candykiss318 I have heard some things about this guy from a family member there. He is a psychologist and teaches the SOP class at Westshoreline and I heard he recently got caught with child porn and was fired. Also, I heard that anyone he evaluated in class will be reevaluated again.

I personally know an individual that took his sop class there. He thought the class went well and at the end this psych submitted a poor report and he got flopped. I did get his case summary report and it states he would have beeen paroled with a good sop termination report. I just hope the truth comes out about this man and people that deserve parole will get it. We put in for a reconsideration to the parole board and he kited the head psychologist there. We are hopeful.

What have you heard and from whom?? I called the Muskegon Chronicle to verfiy story but they stated they did not run one. The woman who answered the phone there thought she had read something about it but was not sure where??

Oh well, it was an awesome visit anyways!
Visiting hour have not changed in 20 years!! Maybe they should go to odd and even. Less crowed and less visits?

I must not be very observant, because I was just there at West Shore line and I never saw the sign, nor did my husband mention anything. I did notice a change in the dress code as far as I'm concerned that is; I've wore the same pants up there at least a dozen times over that past 7 months and now all of a sudden they're too tight??? I haven't gained one pound. LOL!
