I only added 5 dollars to see if it works before I put a lot of money on there. Will I still get a phone call?

Does anyone know if it's possible to leave a message for an inmate to call you? I just missed my hubby's call 2 days in a row cause I was at work and I really need him to call me.. (miss him so bad)

No unfortunately you cant. You can setup calls to your cell phone if you have one. Hope you hear from him soon. Good luck

I will have to set up an account in the next few days. How does this work once set up? Will I be able to keep the same account even if he gets transferred to State Prison? How bad are the fees per call? Is there anything cheaper at all, or is this the only company I can use for California Jails/ Prisons? Also, can I list more than one number (house and cell phone). Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you can call GTL and let them know you will be receiving calls from a different facility. Yes you can have more than one number. My calls are a little over $2.00 per 15 minute call and my husband is located about 200 miles away from me. Good luck

Hi everyone. So I tried to set up a " my phone account " via GTL's offender connect site. It doesn't list my friends facility though. Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it? Also is it better to just add money to the " offender phone account " so that they can just call me ? New to all this. The website is less than stellar. Does the inmate already have to have an account set up? Thanks for any input. Much aapreciated. Oh additional info. I only have a cell. (Not my account (idk if tht matters)) so I am trying to do a prepaid type set up with GTL.

Hi,

I have two accounts set-up with GTL. One for McFarland by Bakersfield, the other for Valley in Chowchilla. Both calls cost me $2.24 for 15 minutes. I had tried to set-up with one of those prison call lines and then use GTL. supposedly to reduce the rate. GTL has come down in rates in the last 6 months. Don't use Jailcallsuse.com, they took $95. of my money and no number and now they refuse to refund it. Stay with GTL. I have been doing this for four years.

Good luck with your phone calls.

Blessings to you and your inmate,
Debry1

Default GTL fees?

A friend of mine called me and asked how to set up an account for her son who is in prison so she could accept his calls, she had been receiving calls when he was in jail and there was a $6.95 transaction fee every time she added money but someone told her that CDCR didn't charge that. She said she added money on the phone and they charged her $6.95 for a transaction fee. I told her to call GTL and they told that the $6.95 will be credited back to her credit card after 24 hours unless he didn't try to call her before she added the money, in which case she would have to pay it--but that in addition to the $6.95, there is a $4.75 charge to set up an account. She already had an online account when her son was in jail. Is she getting bad information or is this what they charge now?

It is ridiculous , they are a ripoff, but it sounds bout right. A lawsuit has been filed in Federal Court regarding this ... from ticked off parents in Riverside, CA and soon Ventura County will be added. I think I can post a link after 25 posts so let me try ... http://www.desertsun.com/story/news/...acks/79085210/

Default Postcards quicker than letters?

I read that postcards will get through quicker. Is this correct and if so, will the prepaid ones at the post office go through ... Jail would not allow them as they were too small. Good grief.
I want to write a book on us as victims too, it is soooo hard on the families, I think we should ask for restiution.

So I've created an account and added "California DOC" as a facility on connect network, because VSP and a plethora of other prisons don't appear on the list.
The "search" button to search for an inmate doesn't appear and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix.

Thanks!

You dont need to add an inmate in California, as long as the account is setup and you selected California DOC you will be able to accept calls.

You are in the UK, right? How did you set up your account with GTL and is it for a UK number or a U.S. number? I had a local Skype number for CA previously but they do not accept that number at GTL because it is considered call forwarding - so even though it is possible to set up an account up with that number in their phone system and deposit money on the account, the number will not work. He could call and I could choose "5" but that's it...GTL blocks the call. I spoke with GTL and they told me for international customers wanting to set up an account with CA prisons I'd need to email them my information so that they'll open the account for my European number, and then to deposit money I'd have to do that via Western Union....after which, in a few weeks, he should be able to call.... I've been putting this off forever because it is so expensive and I hear the calls might be bad quality anyway...but I guess I'll give in at some point.

This is just my experience so I don't know if others have had better luck
