Congrats! You’re headed in the right direction and it sounds like the clouds are starting to part for you.

I spent 3 1/2 years in “temporary release” status while I was inside---swiping out with my bar coded ID card, taking a public bus to and working at a prison dept warehouse on weekdays, and spending weekends back inside with occasional day passes. The warehouse had minimal supervision---unsecured doors, no fence and any of us could have left at any time (although none of us ever did). It was a limited, “short leash” deal, but it was still universes better than 24/7 inside the fence.

One thing about the realm you’re just now entering into... The temptations “out there" are >100x anything I ever saw inside the fence. Because of that, the opportunities I had to screw up, destroy my record and get tossed way back inside the fence were also >100x anything I saw inside the fence. I didn't screw up and throw away my preferred program status, so it’s certainly not impossible. It’s just that instead of temptations being around if you wanted to hunt them down, you’ll now be swimming in a sea of them. Probably a quarter of the guys in the program I was in blew it and got tossed out.

Keep your wits about you, stay mindful, stay on course and you should be fine. Above all else, remember that you’re now where 99% of the prison population wishes they were, but never get to. Best wishes and good luck with your program.

I agree that it is important to follow every restriction from the HWH, and eventually from your PO, so you can make it through to the end without any problems. Initial restrictions and rules can be reduced. My home confinement started out with having to call the HWH for a pass any time I left home, but it quickly changed to a 6PM to 6AM curfew. They did call every night to confirm that I was there, usually at 2AM.

The same thing with supervised release, the toughest restrictions at the beginning were modified by my PO after about 6 months of following all of the rules.

Congratulations for doing so well.
