Everyone starts in A1. B is mostly RDAP. You will have A&O for the first week or two. That is A1. You start out in what is called the bus stop. It is a large room with bunkbeds in it in the middle of the floor. Every time you move to a new area you are back in the bus stop before a cube. I can answer any questions.

Oh, ok thanks. I was pretty sure I read "B" on my SS letter, but ok. Ready for this to be overwith. I won't be doing RDAP. (Mainly because I don't even know what that is) haha

They do not usually put the building on the SS letter. That letter comes from the US Marshall's office not the prison. The prison determines building assignment.

RDAP is Residential Drug and Alcohol Program. You must have 24 months or more and have it documented in your PSI that there was a substance abuse problem. It reduces you sentence by a amount of time determined by your sentence length and guarantees 6 months HWH time if it is successfully completed.

If you must do time it is the place to do it. I have a list of things you will need to purchase when you get there. It will be cold there this winter. I sent you a private message. I will check back several times per day.

Here's the bop Alderson web page, with links to the commissary list. inmate rules (A&O Handbook) and visitor rules.
http://www.bop.gov/locations/institutions/ald/

To hear the TV audio will require a radio or MP3 player with a FM radio band, most bop community TVs don't have speakers. I don't think I was ever as cold as I was in FDC Miami until I bought sweatshirts/pants. Athletic shoes help if your prison issued shoes are unacceptable. Any over the counter meds or toiletries are purchased from the commissary list, along with postage stamps and food items. If you will have visitors, and want photos of the visits, you will have to purchase "photo tickets" in advance and bring them with you to the visiting room.

You will have one commissary shopping day per week, but many prisons allow new inmates to shop right away by writing "first time shopper" on the commissary slip. You will need to have money posted to your inmate account before you can purchase anything.
http://www.bop.gov/inmates/communications.jsp#money

Western Union payments are posted immediately, US Postal money orders when received in the Des Moines lockbox, but all other money orders are held for 15 days.
