Not only are we diverse, we don't seem to fight about our differences. That may be the most wonderful thing of all.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I believe in Monotheism, which is the belief in one God, but most people of this faith live as Muslim's.
I am learning about Islam, but also accepting that I dont need to convert to Islam before we marry since Alex has not.

I'm in a league of my own these days. I know, believe, and respect God. However, I have my doubts about the Jesus part. When I say that, I get all kinds of testimonies, etc. I am drawn more toward Judaism but of course, I was born a gentile and conversion is not feasible for me. Hence my dilemma.

I'm an atheist but lean towards the agnostic side i.e. I don't think there's any convincing proof that there is a 'God", so I don't believe in "him", however this lack of proof doesn't necessarily mean that "God" doesn't exist.

I'm atheist, raised by a Protestant minister. I stop every day and appreciate the breaths I take and the beauty around me in its many forms, but I can't ascribe that to any singular being's doing.

I believe in doing the right thing, being honest, moral, and working hard. I believe in saying "thoughts" for people in need. I do not go to church, nor do I let any religion tell me what is right and wrong. No one is my master as I am my own master. I believe in a higher being, whatever that being might be, but I am not religious, what does that make me?

I was going to mark my faith on the Pole but couldn't find it!
I know that I am a Christian. I accept the Bible as it is written. Sure I use the practical application and don't stone people or cut off my hand. Too many religions have really messed up Christianity. Christianity and religion are NOT the same. Religions tell you which books of the Bible they have decided not to beleive. They will tell you to pray to saints instead of God or Jesus. Originally the churches did not want to let their followers have any bibles and only know what they are told. The writer of the first English translation of the bible was burned at the stake by the 'church'.
I can understand there being a need for easier to understand bibles but some versions are way out there. Don't tell me that you only read the true bible, the "King James Version" Which King James Version? There have been 12 revisions over the years!
Lets get back to the real faith "Christian". Not some Catholic, Protestant, Mormon etc version of what to to accept or read, I can't list all 127 plus "Religions" here.
So please correct the Pole to list Christian seperately because I am not religious.
If you want to see what I mean you should read "Bad News Religion" by Greg Albrecht (2004). I'm not trying to sell any books, go to the library.

We are living in a society which imprisons more people (2 million) than any other country. The prisons systen is busting at the seams. There has to be changes made before it really falls apart. Don't let personal beliefs seperate us. Some of my best bible studies in prison were when Christians, Jews and Muslins sat down together and found we all wanted the same things, peace and the ability to practice our own faiths. I have attended Muslim services and was welcomed to be there. We all have the same God!

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Yep, I'm Mormon! I don't know what I'd do without the Church... it's brought a lot of blessings!

I am a christian...but now i am starting to think that there is only one God and you just choose to worship him as you please...if everybody thinks that there religion is right then somebody has to be wrong...As you see there have been religions on here that i have never heard of...You think your religion is right, right...that is either how you were raise or what someone thought you...if you were rasied believing something different thats how you would worship...i don't believe there is any wrong religion? i think it is human to want to be apart of a group or belong or believe in something

As I said when I talked about the Bible studies we had in prison. There were Christians, Jews, and a Muslim - there were others as well. My point was we all worship in different ways - we all worship the same God.
I have read from the Book of Mormon and I have a Qur'an (english version) which I enjoy reading. And I have attended Seventh Day Advantist services. Many people change their Religions or become plain Christians.
The book I mentioned talks about how some Religions have twisted what is in the Bible or created so many dogmas that they end up worshipping a church instead of God. The church is in ourselves not a building, we go to a church for fellowship. God is where are - with us.

I remember a documentary about a person who had died in a hospital. She was unconcious and didn't see anyone in the hospital room. They finally brought her back and later told them that she was watching them from above the bed working on her. She even told them who was in the room. But what was really amazing she said that she had risen above the hospital and when she looked at the various churches in the city, they ALL had a GLOW about them. They call it a near death experience.

I have read about various Religions and they (except Budists and a few others) use the (generally) same Bible. I just did not like having to check the Christian box which indicated I was also a Protestant. So there was no box for me and many other Christians.

Amen - God Loves you ALL.

Merely because one is asked to check a box does not mean that one is required to live within that box. When you encounter this sort of thing, just remind yourself that those who design forms can be in a hurry to create them, check the box that's at least close to describing you, and forget about it. Then be yourself. Above all, follow your own heart and spirit.

I am an atheist. But if I had to choose a religion that I most identified with it would probably be Wicca. The number one rule that Wiccans live by is "Do what you will so long as it harms none". And that is pretty much the philosophy that I try to live by. That and "treat others the way you wish to be treated". I am certainly not perfect but that is something that I strive for.

I am also a BIG believer in karma. What you put out(be it good or bad) will ALWAYS come back to you. I am pretty open-minded and have a live and let live attitude. I don't like rules, so the fewer the better. LOL No "masters" for me. I don't like the idea of having to answer to anyone, or the idea of someone else being in control over MY life. I believe in the right of every individual to self-determination, and I believe that each of us is in control of our own destinies.

Lisa
