Default Can he still can purchase cigarettes ? He lost his commissary privileges.

If he lost his commissary privileges but has money in his account is he allowed to at least purchase cigarettes or will he have to wait til he gets his privileges back?

No he cannot purchase cigarettes or anything else while on loss of commissary. Loss of privileges is just that, no privileges and cigarettes are considered a privilege.

Usually this includes no rec or phone calls, that's why Stamps are the exception so as to maintain family contact and involvement. Some facilities allow cosmetics (such as shaving cream, tooth paste etc) while others do not.

He can't probably but all you have to do is see if he has a friend in there that can purchase the smokes for him he can do it that way, you might have to put the money on his friend books to cover the smokes tho.

be careful with that!! if they figure it out he can lose privileges all over again - that's totally against the rules!!!!!

Yeah I sent him a letter a few days ago asking him if he know someone that I can put the money on the books for so that he can get the cigarettes. I know it's against the rules so I left it up to him to tell me if thats what he wants me to do. I am not the one that will have the loss of privileges he is so I leave it up to him.

Now that you wrote it in a letter they will be watching him close for that to see if he gets any cigarettes. Don't do it now.

Default at PTO we never

recommend trying to go against prison policy-the price you pay is not worth it--and we simply NEVER recommend doing something against the rules/law.
