Default New Mail and Photo policy starting 01/01/2015

Has anyone else heard about new policy "per court order" where photos cannot be sent in with letters or cards? So if you want to send in a picture, has to be in a separate envelope, no writing on the back of the photo.

It's right on their website

Please note: Effective Jan. 1, 2015, family and friends of offenders incarcerated within the Missouri Department of Corrections will be required to send pictures and personal correspondence in separate mailings. The department will allow pictures and personal correspondence to be sent to an offender in the same envelope until Jan. 1, 2015. Any envelope received on or after Jan. 1, 2015, which contains both pictures and personal correspondence, will be returned to the sender.

Default court order

Thanks Sass, but my concern is their "per Federal Court order" in why the change. I know they can make up anything they want, but I think it is pretty ridiculous and will results in TONS of mail being returned.

Sorry, but I don't trust the DOC.

Sorry, I'm confused. There is nothing on their site about a court order or federal court order nor can I find anything in a google search about that part.

Default court order

Right - my husband is in a Missouri prison. It was posted several weeks ago and on that memo it says per court order. I am trying to find answers and wonder if anyone else in Missouri has heard of this or has a copy of this.

I just heard about this, and I don't get it either. They already limited the number of enclosure with a letter to 5. They already prohibit sending photos to an inmate to the inmate. I wonder what purpose this segregation of letters and photos is supposed to accomplish.

Purpose is to make it as difficult on the inmate's families as possible!

Why can't we attach pictures to an email through JPAY? It will only let you post ecards.
