Much will depend on what charges are filed against him, and whatever deal his lawyer can get from the prosecutor. Not knowing any of that, or the facts surrounding the case, the range of possibilities might go from him having to pay a fine, or him having to answer for criminal charges in a trial.

Google: Defrauding an innkeeper more than $300, Florida. Check out the legal meaning, term range, etc. Also click on a few of the defense attorneys' sites and read what they think.

The arraignment is where he will hear what charges the DA is applying to his case, and the information you get from googling will help you understand some of what's going on.

In Nevada, because of the casinos, more than $250 a felony. My girlfriend wrote a check to vet, it bounced and although no jail time, she's had difficult time now getting a job.

I see you already did the google thing and have received some great answers from attorneys. Here's your link: http://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/li...or-783468.html

Gather up all information about his PTS and a letter from his counselor there in UK. Find out who his Public Defender is and how to email this info to them. Make sure you ask the PD to acknowledge receipt of your email. If you can get the counselor to help you, he/she can send the email with their title, etc. after the closing, like this:

Regards,

Name
Title
Contact info

This can all be done via email and scanning documents. With the internet, we have no borders.

P.S. Is there a way someone in the States can go pay the "innkeeper" now, get a receipt, without admitting any guilt or involving the defendant? Go in and say "is there a way I can pay and satisfy the debt?" Get creative. Then this innkeeper might be helpful in letting it go....Just my thoughts...I would have all done before arraignment, but most def before prelim. Dont discuss with defendant, except to say "not guilty".

Debt paid, and medical reason for misbehavior might equal Motion to Dismiss?

Make sure the consulate in Florida has been notified where he is and what all is going on. US states have a very spotty record of doing notifications under the VCCR (Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, assuming he's a UK citizen, he's entitled to notification of his consulate so that his consulate can do whatever it can do to help, and keep folks at home informed of what's going on).

Arraignment is really the beginning of all court proceedings. His charges will be read to him. He'll be informed of the maximum liability should he be found guilty of his charges. He'll be asked about a lawyer. If he cannot afford one, a lawyer will be appointed to him. Bail will be discussed.

Expect Immigration to get informed of his arrest. Chances are, they'll boot him out of the country when the whole court thing is done.

Thanks for all you help but no there is no money to pay the "innkeeper" and I am not bailing him out financially again its sad becasue of the post trumatic stress issues but he needs to have some form of punishment to change i think this is it but he does need support and this is near impossible when I cant get hold of information

I understand he is looking at an indefinate ban from the usa and i think this could lead to major problems for him i dont think he will cope with that and tbh that could be the issue for me as well it makes me really sad

we have a four month old son and that we cant go and see mickey mouse because of daddy is not something am prepare to do

Like everyone says, it depends on his attorney and what the prosecutor says and what deal they can come up with. It also depends on the judge what his sentence is. My sis got 30 days in jail for less than that. Good luck!!
