Default How long does LA DOC usually take to calculate time?

Earlier this week, my boyfriend was sentenced to one year at hard labor with the DOC. He's been in jail for almost nine months now. His lawyer said he'd have to serve the time flat, but yesterday the man in charge of processing inmates into DOC from the county jail told him he was eligible for immediate release when DOC processes him (if DOC approves it).

This is a sex-related offense, which is why we thought he had to serve the time flat.

My question is... how long does DOC usually take to do time calculations? The website says up to 12 weeks, but I was hoping for personal experiences.

I'm crossing my fingers that they'll even let him out early, but it's frustrating not to know when to expect him, especially since there are so many requirements for both felons and sex offenders.

I'm so nervous. Thanks for any help!

They take as long as they want.

I found this in a thread here on PTO that's 6 years old
You might call 225-383-4580 and get some answers. It's also been suggested that he write Classification there in Baton rouge and inquire about it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. I called the number and he's not in their system yet, as expected. She told me up to 90 days, so..... I'm just going to relax and not get my hopes up.

I'd still love to hear personal experiences, but thanks for the replies so far
